ooooh, tough draw there...I reckon you'll get through...Chelsea - Spurs final :)

Spurs Captain Relishing Barca Battle

Sandro (Above center) has been Spurs' captain since the beginning of the season.

Sandro Raniere Guimarães Cordeiro - commonly known as 'Sandro' or 'The Best' - has expressed his excitement at being drawn with current Champions League holders, FC Barcelona.

In a recent press conference, the Brazilian spoke about Spurs' upcoming clash with the Catalan giants, saying that the occasion will be a 'special' one for the team, as well as the Tottenham fans, but has insisted that they will not roll over.

"To play in the semi-final of the biggest domestic competition in Europe is a great achievement, and to know that I will be captaining the side will be an even greater achievement for me, personally."

"I think Spurs fans will enjoy it - It's going to be a special occasion, but we will not roll over. We want to be the best and in order to be the best, you need to beat the best."

"We have some amazing players in this squad. We are a great team and we expect to win trophies - the fans expect us to win trophies and there is no better way than proving it to the fans by winning the biggest Domestic trophy available.
"

Sandro will come up against Lionel Messi (left) and Brazilian teammate, Neymar (Right) when his side take on Barcelona.

Despite the strong talk by the Brazilian, Spurs most certainly remain underdogs for the tie, with FC Barcelona odds on favourites to defend their Champions League trophy for the third year in a row. They are of course the first team in recent history to defend the Champions League title, securing back to back wins in the 2014/15 season after overcoming Ukranian side Shakhtar Donetsk and the 15/16 season, beating Spanish rivals, Real Madrid in a 2-0 win.

What will make it an even bigger occasion for Barca is the chance to play the final in front of their home fans, with the final being hosted at the Camp Nou on the 20th of May.
Sandro <3 What a legend

great update Nick, as always :)

Tottenham Hotspur: The Invincibles?

Going down in history? Spurs could become the second team to finish a season unbeaten in the PL.

Tottenham's head coach, André Villas-Boas has played down talk claiming that Spurs can become the second club in Premier League history to finish the season unbeaten.

Spurs are currently on a 37 match unbeaten streak in the Premier League - dating back to last season. The North London club have yet to lose a game this season, having played 31 games, winning 23 and drawing 8. There impressive performance has seen them 8 points ahead of Manchester United, with just 7 games left to play.

Speaking to Sky Villas-Boas claimed that his side are not getting carried away.

"Would it be great to finish the season unbeaten? Yes, but at the moment, we are just taking it one game at a time. We set out to defend the Premier League trophy, and if we do that unbeaten - great, if we do it with a few losses - no problem."

"It would be nice [for the fans] to match Arsenal's achievement, but as I say, we are just taking it one game at a time."

Arsene Wenger guided Arsenal to the PL trophy is 03/04... Unbeaten

Of course, if Spurs were to finish the season unbeaten, they would be the second team to have done so. The first? Spurs' North London Rivals, Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger guided Arsenal to the Premier League trophy in the 03/04 season with style - becoming the first ever manager going a whole season in the Premier League unbeaten. Over the 38 games played, their league record stood at 26 wins, 12 draws and 0 losses
It would be insane if you were undefeated all season! You can do it! :)
Just caught up, good read so far, Spurs are now something to talk about ;)

Good luck In CL!
Bayern AVB don't take sh*t from no-one B)

Neal I was really surprised with the PSG result. The first game where I was away was basically me defending the whole match and getting a lucky break, but I was all over them at home!

TAT Yeah, very tough draw. Hopefully I'll progress, although I very much doubt it!

TAT Thanks! Sandro is amazing :-X

Josh I know, right! I'm hopeful that I can do it. I only have Chelsea as my 'hard' match left!

Denzy Thank you! Really appreciate the kind comments :)
Great updates Nick, shame to see that your unbeaten run ended though in a poor month for your standards to be honest.
Brilliant result against Arsenal in the F.A. Cup, in the real highlight of the month!
Oh and hopefully you can fight back in the 2nd leg of the CL and still go through.
This story bleeds top quality. Love it. Excellent work
It's a shame that you couldn't finish undefeated...but congrats on defeating Barca!
Pompey I get my first loss and I end up losing two back to back PL ones! Palace and West Ham are right near the bottom too!! :(

Bigluey Thank you! Appreciate the kind words! :)

AAN Yeah, it would've been nice, but oh well. And thanks - in terms of stats, the match finished with Barca having just 4 shots on goal to my 21!
Mixed Month, Well in on the Champions league & FA Cup

Villas Boas: We were amazing!

Over the moon: Villas-Boas saw his side overturn a 2-1 loss to beat Barcelona and book their place in the Champions League final.

André Villas-Boas will certainly be the happier set of managers after Tottenhams 4-1 win against European Champions, FC Barcelona.

Spurs were seen as huge underdogs for the match, and the talk before was that FC Barcelona had the match all but wrapped up. All they had to do was get through 90 minutes without losing - it should be simple, right?

Villas-Boas spoke before the game, saying that the tie was far from over. He certainly proved tonight that he is no push over.

Despite Spurs' quick start, high pressing game and numerous chances, they couldn't find the back of the net. It seemed as if luck was against them. What will have caused even more pain was the fact that Jean-Marie Dongou broke the offside trap and slip the ball underneath the onrushing ter Stegen. Barca had taken the lead - Undeservedly.

During the half time team talk, Villas-Boas certainly showed his nasty streak. Eriksen confirmed after the game that the manager was not happy to have gone down at Half time losing, especially as they deserved to be in the lead.

It seemed as if Villas-Boas team talk certainly worked. Spurs came out and started the second half as they finished the first, with two great saves in the first 5 minutes from Muslera denying Spurs from taking the lead.

Poor: Messi managed just a single shot all game and was largely ineffective.

Spurs were dominating, controlling the ball and keeping Barca on the back foot. A great break away from Bernard saw him dart into the box, only to be brought down clumsily by Yann M'Villa. Jackson Martínez coolly slotted the penalty into the bottom corner. Spurs now had 20 minutes to find an equalizer to take the game to extra time.

With just 5 minutes remaining, Eriksen robbed Mascherano before playing an exquisite through ball over the top, which Martínez latched onto, rolling the ball into the bottom corner from 10 yards out. Game on.

Despite throwing everything at Barcelona, Spurs just couldn't get that third goal. Jackson Martínez thought that he deserved a penalty just minutes into extra time after a tangle with Jordi Alba, but his protests were waved away.

After just 2 minutes of the second half of extra time, Chadli again ceased on a mistake from Mascherano, stealing the ball first time and smashing it into the net from 18 yards out, leaving Muslera helpless and leaving the score at 3-1.

Eriksen (left) and Walker (Right) were singled out by fans for their great performances

Spurs had to hold on for just 13 minutes to see out the win, with Caulker being bought on to replace Christian Eriksen, who left the pitch to a standing ovation from the home crowd.

Spurs were defending well, and despite Barcelonas dominance, they couldn't create the clear cut chance needed.

A 45 yard sprint from Chadli opened up the field, with Barcelona players struggling to get back. A back pass to Walker and clever movement from Bernard saw him free through on goal, before scoring from an acute angle in the 188th minute. Spurs had secured their position in the final of the Champions League.

Villas-Boas expressed his delight after the match, singling out Eriksen for special praise. The Danish playmaker grabbed an assist, but proved pivotal to Tottenham's win.

"He was great today. He was all over the pitch, defensively he made some superb challenges, offensively he was sublime. He set up Martínez with a great pass, and could've had a few more assists too."

Heat Map: Eriksen covered a distance of 15.6km

Villas Boas praise for Man of the Match winner, Eriksen was certainly no exaggeration. The Dane international made 100 passes, with a 79% completion rate. He made a total of 3 key passes, one of which set up Jackson Martínez for his second of the night. He also went on to complete 4 out 4 of tackles, make 4 inceptions and draw 14 fouls from Barcelona. On top of that, he managed to cover 15.6kms worth of ground, and finished the match with a rating of 9.0

As a team, Spurs simply outclassed Barcelona in every category. Tottenham had a total of 35 shots, 17 of which were on target - compared to Barcelonas 4 and 3 respectivley. Spurs also managed to dominate possession, with 55%. Spurs attempted 646 passes with a 79% pass completion rate, compared to Barcelona's 636 passes, with a completion rate of just 73%.
I absolutely love your updates! Very detailed report on your Barcelona game and I wish you luck in the final!
