Middlesbrough grab late victory
The Capital One Cup Quarter Final between Manchester United and Middlesbrough was one for the tabloids. Earlier in the week United Skipper David Moyes said to the media that McKenzie and his crew shouldn't even bother showing up. He even went on saying that Dir of Football Eric Cantona and U18s coach David Beckham were traitors to United. There was no response from the Boro camp except for this one little thing. "Moyes needs to shut up and concentrate on the match ahead."-Doug McKenzie. The two managers have been feuding since their partnership ended on bad terms this past summer.
Now on to the match:
Manchester united featured a number of exceptionally quick players but were never able to full effect on a breezy December evening at The Riverside. Over 30,000 would be in attendance. With the match nearing the closing minutes it was Kei Kamara who scored a fine header from point blank range in the 88th minute to give the home team the lead.
It was quite a surprise to see Middlesbrough win this one honestly. The team was getting over played in every shape and form you could think of. Goalkeeper Jason Steele should be given all the credit in the world for his fine performance. Boro are a team currently in 15th place in the EPL and hve played way above expectations this season.
"I am pleased we got the victory, but we won't get ahead of ourselves right now. that's for sure."- Doug McKenzie
The next round will features matches between Arsenal and Middlesbrough and Birmingham City against Aston Villa. The matches will be played on 6 January 2015.
