Martins: The Back Door Is Open

Vitor Martins On Form:
"Last month was a great one. The boys battled on spectacularly, despite the amount of games we've had to play in such quick succession. These runs of matches can make or break your team and they certainly played in our favour this month.

These long stretches of matches can definitely harm fitness both mentally and physically. If you're not prepared then you aren't going to come out very well. In our situation it's about getting the most out of these long hauls. We are in a place where we cannot fall into a long slide of bad form - it's extremely difficult to get out of it.

But, if it is the other way around, then it can work wonders. There is nothing like being confident and having a long run of great form. That's exactly what we enjoyed this month. Win after win after win - the boys loved it, too. The loss is not something to worry about, it was a tough away game and we will recover, I'm sure of it.

December is shorter, but we have played these teams before. Therefore, we can analyse things and make improvements. A second chance is a blessing for us. We can pick up more points than last time, see where we've gone wrong and make things right again.

We may have to change up our own plan a bit, I don't know. I think some people thought we'd be the easy beats and so we've come out and shocked them a bit. They didn't expect us to be playing so well, taking the chances we've been getting. The win versus Académica summed that up."
You've had a great last month! Hopefully you'll continue that form throughout the next months!

New Boy On The Block

Oriental Official Website:
We are pleased to announce the new signing of Belgian defender Alessandro Astorino on a free transfer. Astorino arrvies with plenty of experience to his name, despite being just 20 years old.

Astorino will be joining Oriental at the start of the winter transfer window on 1 December 2015 and the Belgian has already expressed his delight that Oriental have given him another chance at football and Astorino is said to be relishing the opportunity of first team football.

At twenty years of age, Astorino has a long way to go in the world of football. He started out his career in the youth setup at giants Anderlecht before moving on to fellow Belgian heavyweights Standard Liège.

Manager Vitor Martins obviously saw potential in the young Belgian defender, who plays predominantly in the centre but can be switched to the left. "Alessandro is a promising player and he can do great things for us," said Martins. What he lacks in size and strength he makes up in pace and intelligence. He's got a great future ahead of him."

Standing at just 178cm tall, many wonder if Astorino will be deployed on the left side of defence, but Martins has insisted that he will play the player in his preferred position in the centre of defence, although he may be forced into rotating.

As previously stated, Alessandro joins at the beginning of the winter transfer window but we want to wish him a warm welcome upon his arrival and we hope the fans will embrace him at his first fixture in an Oriental shirt!

He looks a great player! :)
Love that graphic :o He looks good, but he needs some work, strength needs a lot of work aha :)
Justice Thanks Justice - he needs work but I'm sure he'll get there

Josh_MU Thanks Josh. Strength is the main thing I'm working on :P He's got time so I'm sure he can still develop! Thanks for reading you two :)
