Farewell Mota & Mendonça

Oriental Lisbon Club Statement:
We would like to wish a farewell message to both Tiago Mota and Sergio Mendonça upon their release from the club. Both these players were fantastic servants to the club, and the chairman, manager, staff, players and fans would all like to offer their good luck wishes and farewell messages to the players.

Both players contributed so much to the club, and can be credited with playing a vital role in the club's jump to the Liga Revoluçao and will both be etched into the clubs history upon our famous promotion.

Sergio (pictured, left) was a brilliant defensive midfielder who could also play a part on the left side of midfield. He will be remembered for his brilliant goals, especially the winner versus Juventus Reserves at the beginning of the 2013-14 preseason.

Tiago (right) was inspiring on the right hand side of midfield, contributing countless amounts of assists and his fair few share of important goals in both seasons under manager Vitor Martins' reign.

Both players put their heart and soul into helping this club, and they can be attributed as key men in the club's inaugural Liga Revoluçao stint. Manager Vitor Martins announced the players' release with deep reluctance, saying, "These two players [Tiago & Sergio] have played such a key part in our last two seasons. It was a very, very hard decision to let them go, but I feel the time was right. We need fresh legs, and both of them understand the reasoning behind the release, and with that I wish them all the best."

Fans were given one last chance to meet the two as they were presented with gifts upon their release. The club will now begin to look for replacements as the first day of the transfer window is opened tomorrow, but these two, in fans' eyes, will always remain Oriental icons.
NOOOOO TIAGO D:

Oriental Raid Serie B

Oriental Lisbon have confirmed the signings of Stefano Franchi and David Antwi on free transfers from Pro Piacenza and Brescia respectively.

Franchi, 29, is a right winger with a deadly right foot and great crossing abilities. He has spent the last two seasons at Serie B club Pro Piacenza and prior to that he played for Mantova.

The experiened winger has been there a done it all, with a long playing career in the Italian lower leagues. Franchi (pictured) has played for several teams in the Italian second division, most notably Brescia, and has a wealth of experience.

Antwi, on the other hand, is a youngster who was signed from Brescia's youth squad and the Ghanaian is regarded as "one for the future". The 18-year old is a classic box-to-box midfielder who has great passing abilities and determination.

However, Antwi stands at only 161cm tall, the shortest in the league! This may come as a disadvantage for the ex-Brescia midfielder, but then again, look at Lionel Messi!

Vitor Martins: "I'm pleased we were able to bring in these players, as I feel they can add something to the squad, which I think is ready for the season ahead. Now it is just a matter of getting everyone on the same page."

Stefano Franchi: "It's a great move for me. I'm approaching the twilight of my career but I still feel I have two or more years in my prime and I'm ready to give it my all for such a fantastic up and coming club!"

David Antwi: "Of course, I am very pleased to have joined this magnificent club that is making big steps in the footballing world. Vitor Martins is a great man and it didn't take him long to convince me to join the club at all."

Two good signings there Walt!
Good signings, nice contrast in experience and youth, Antwi looks like he could be quite good with some training.
