MARCH REVIEW

Wolfsburg Have Another Solid Month

Wolfsburg Win Easily Against Koln

WOLFSBURG VS FC. KOLN
2-0
Ricardo Rodriguez
Angelo Henriquez, Mikel Arteta

An important game for Wolfsburg as they continue their chase down of Borussia Dortmund. They are 5 points away from the now and they will be looking to continue their run of form to get to them. Wolfsburg will also want to maintain their gap from Schalke, which is currently at 5 points. The game started well for Wolfsburg , who after 20 minutes, put together a great counter-attack and a great ball from Träsch set up an easy finish for Angelo Henriquez(1-0). The game did not have any more chances until the 80th minute, when Mikel Arteta hit an incredible long shot putting the nail in the coffin(2-0). That is how the game would finish, Ricardo Rodriguez picked up the man of the match, getting an assist and making more great passes.

WOLFSBURG ANNOUNCE YOUTH INTAKE OF PLAYERS

Wolfsburg have today announced their new intake of youngsters. They have already announced the signing of young (14 year old) German striker, Timo Schleicher. The German striker has lived around the football club since he was 12, and the club are very happy that they can announce his signing, he is supposedly the next big German wonderkid.

Wolfsburg End Run Against Bayern

WOLFSBURG VS FC BAYERN
0-2
Thiago (Bayern Munich)

A crucial game as Wolfsburg will be looking to take at least one point away from Allianz-Arena. Also a crucial game if Bayern want to assert their dominance and almost cement their place with winning the Bundesliga. The game started well for Bayern, who after asserting their dominance, scored a simple header through Robert Lewandowski. FC Bayern would finish the game off in the 90th minute, when they scored through Robert Lewandowski again, who scored an easy tap in.

Wolfsburg Edge Ahead in First Round

WOLFSBURG VS SPORTING LISBON
First Leg

3-2
Sebastian Jung
Angelo Henriquez, Ivica Olic, Robert Knoche

The first game of this second knockout round. It is crucial from both teams, as both are expected to get to the next round and both even may have a chance of taking out the trophy. Wolfsburg are currently undefeated in the EUROPA league and will be looking to take it into this first leg which they get to host. Immediately off the kick-off, Wolfsburg sprinted down the right wing and crossed it into Angelo Henriquez who scored(1-0). 30 minutes later, Lisbon would pick up a crucial away goal through a terrific shot from Martins(1-1). After Wolfsburg kicked off after conceding, they turned over again, allowing Lisbon to score through Samuel Eto'o(1-2). Not too long later though, Wolfsburg would score an impressive goal through Ivica Olic(2-2). Wolfsburg would get the lead back in the 75th minute, with Robert Knoche scoring an impressive corner goal(3-2). Wolfsburg man Sebastian Jung would win play of the match for his assist and impressive display in replacing Träsch.

Wolfsburg Dominate Frankfurt

WOLFSBURG VS FRANKFURT
4-2
Christian Träsch
Alexandre Lacazette, Memphis Depay, Ivica Olic, Christian Träsch

Another game where Wolfsburg have the chance to pick up maximum points. They played Lisbon midweek, and they may be playing a weaker side, giving Frankfurt a good chance in this one. Early in the game, a mistake from Frankfurt allowed Wolfsburg to score through Lacazette(1-0). Lucas Piazon pulled one back for Frankfurt with an easy finish after a Naldo mistake(1-1). An incredible long shot on the hour mark from Depay gave Wolfsburg the lead back(2-1). Shortly after the goal from Depay, Wolfsburg quickly scored with Olic(3-1). A mistake off the kick off from Frankfurt, allowed Wolfsburg to score again through Christian Träsch(4-1). Frankfurt would score a consolation goal late in the game to make the score look a little better(4-2). The man of the match was Wolfsburg's Christian Träsch, who scored a goal and terrorized the right wing.

Wolfsburg go Flying Through After Convincing Win

WOLFSBURG VS SPORTING LISBON
Second Leg 3-2

4-0
Christian Träsch
Memphis Depay x2, Ivica Olic, Angelo Henriquez

After winning the first leg, Wolfsburg will be looking to hold onto their aggregate lead, and they are in a good position to do that as well. Wolfsburg got the dream start, scoring a crucial away goal 20 minutes into the game through Memphis Depay(1-0). One of the better pieces of team play you will ever see, allowed Depay to put Ivica Olic through on goal who slipped it past the keeper and get another away goal(2-0). Shortly after half-time, Wolfsburg put the game away with a great goal that Memphis Depay finished(3-0). To add to the pain, Wolfsburg again attempted their corner move and Angelo Henriquez put it away to rub it in(4-0). The play of the game is the striker that scored two goals, Memphis Depay. He also played some very good passes in.

Gustavo Red Card Troubles Wolfsburg

WOLSBURG VS HANNOVER
3-4
Alexandre Lacazette x2, Ricardo Rodriguez

After playing again mid-week against Lisbon, Wolfsburg will be very tired. Despite this though, their rotation players have shown this year, and they will be hoping they can perform today. The game started off very well for Wolfsburg, who scored early thanks to a great piece of dribbling and finish from Alexandre Lacazette(1-0). 20 minutes in, Wolfsburg would be a man down, as Wolfsburg midfielder Luiz Gustavo dived in dangerously and received a red card. Hannover would score a nice goal off of a corner(1-1). Shortly after half-time, Hannover scored again off of a corner(1-2). Hannover did not stop their, scoring again after to make it worse for Wolfsburg(1-3). When Wolfsburg conceded again moments later, the game was all but over(1-4). Wolfsburg did try to get back in the game, when Wolfsburg scored through Alexandre Lacazette(2-4). Wolfsburg would score again, shortly before the end of the game to make a scare through Ricardo Rodriguez(3-4). That is how it would end though, Wolfsburg not able to tie it up.

Wolfsburg Closing in on Champions League Football

WOLFSBURG VS MAINZ
5-1
Alexandre Lacazette
Ivica Olic, Alexandre Lacazette x4

With only needing 16 points in their remaining games to qualify for Champions League, Wolfsburg will be looking at fixtures like this to make a dent in those points. They will also be looking to improve on their last performance against Hannover. Wolfsburg would make the first impact on the game, when Lacazette's original shot bounced off the post, and fell to Ivica Olic who tapped it in(1-0). Lacazette would have more luck on the half an hour mark, when Olic whipped in a cross to Lacazette who hit the post but then tapped in the rebound(2-0). The lead would be decreased however, when Mainz continued to attack the goals and eventually tapped one in(2-1). It would be Olic who created the next chance when he sprinted down the sideline and put Arteta through, who crossed it to Alexandre Lacazette who scored his second(3-1). Lacazette would get his hat-trick, when he scored off of Wolfsburg's signature corner move(4-1). When Wolfsburg pulled the same move not too long later, Lacazette would again be the beneficiary as he tapped it in (5-1). The man of the match would be the man who scored 4 goals, Alexandre Lacazette. The Frenchman was in great nick and also provided an assist.

Lacazette Wins Player of The Week

French Wolfsburg striker Alexandre Lacazette has been selected as the Bundesliga player of the week. The 22-year old scored 4 in their recent game against Mainz and two in their loss to Frankfurt. He will be joined in the team of the week by fellow team mates, Mikel Arteta and Naldo.
Naldo loves scoring goals and playing well for Wolfsburg

BUNDESLIGA TABLE

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The Frenchman was in impeccable form in front of goal this month. He scored 7 and even treated the fans to a 4 goal blitz in the most recent game against Mainz. He has not been able to play in the EUROPA league, but that has not stopped him from destroying the stats in the Bundesliga. He has also been practicing his passing and has started to develop some great ball playing skills.
solid month, Lacazette on fire!
Lacazette is a beast...keep it up. Looks like 3rd place is your spot this season, not to bad for the first season.

EUROPA LEAGUE QUARTER FINAL DRAW

The draw for the EUROPA League Quarter final are set to be drawn.

Quarter Final Draw

This is a very interesting draw, especially since competition favourites Barcelona were knocked out by English club Tottenham. Anything can happen from here; since the removal of Barca, Wolfsburg and Tottenham have been labelled as the new favourites to win the trophy.

APRIL REVIEW

Dunlop Has One of Worst Months So Far

Wolfsburg are Rubbish at Home in First Leg

WOLFSBURG VS FC PORTO
First Leg
0-1

The first leg of this quarter final tie. Wolfsburg will have the advantage as they are at home, and they have already played well when they have been in Portugal, but Lisbon are a lot different to Porto. Porto would open the scoring however, when a mix-up at the back gave Christian Tello an open header at the back post(0-1). The game got worse for Wolfsburg when Ricardo Rodriguez and Luiz Gustavo both got booked, meaning that they would not be able to play in the second leg.

Dunlop Lets Fly after Disappointing Game

Dunlop has let fly at the team's performance in their first leg home loss to FC Porto. When asked what he thought of the team's performance, he launched into a stream of harsh words and comments. He was particularly mad at Captain and GK Benaglio, who was "not showing any leadership" and "couldn't catch a cold if he tried". The FA is reviewing the Press Conference and Dunlop may receive a touchline ban and fine for his actions.

Wolfsburg Dominate Powerless Hertha

WOLFSBURG VS HERTHA BSC
4-2
Memphis Depay
Memphis Depay x2, Ivica Olic, Ricardo Rodriguez

Dunlop will be expecting a much better performance from his side, after their disappointing mid-week loss to Porto. They only need 10 more points to qualify for Champions League football and this is the perfect opportunity to remove three off of that. The game did not start well for Wolfsburg, who conceded just three minutes in after an unfortunate bounce for Timo Horn(0-1). 30 minutes later, Wolfsburg would strike back however, when their prolific goal scorer Memphis Depay broke through on his own and tucked away a neat finish(1-1). Wolfsburg would take the lead not long later when Ivica Olic collected another goal from De Bruyne who gave him a neat assist(2-1). The next highlight would fall to Hertha on the 70th minute, when they tucked away an easy penalty after a poor tackle from Naldo(2-2). But Wolfsburg were clearly looking to please Dunlop, and they did with a terrific Ricardo Rodriguez finish not long after conceding(3-2). Memphis Depay would round off the game with a tidy free-kick from just outside the box to put the score out of doubt(4-2). For his two goal effort, Memphis Depay received the player of the game award, he also had 4 other key passes.

WOLFSBURG OVERCOME FIRST LEG DEFECIT TO WIN IN PORTUGAL

WOLFSBURG VS FC PORTO
Second Leg(0-1)

4-2
Angelo Henriquez
Angelo Henriquez x2, Memphis Depay x2

Wolfsburg will be looking for a much improved performance if they want to progress through this round. Wolfsburg got the game started, with an early strike from Angelo Henriquez that sent all the fans into insanity, it was one of the strikes of the year(1-0). The next chance fell to Wolfsburg in the second half, when Angelo Henriquez got involved again, this time putting the ball through to Memphis Depay who put away the goal right in front of the hard-core Porto fans(2-0). But Tello would strike back shortly after to give Porto back the advantage(2-1). But to continue the goal fest, Henriquez put away the third goal in 6 minutes, giving Wolfsburg the upper hand(3-1). But right as Wolfsburg were dominating, Rolando scored a goal that came as a shock to Wolfsburg, and sent the stadium into hysteria(3-2). But of course, Dunlop would get the last laugh, when his man Memphis Depay scored an incredible solo goal in stoppage time to stop the crowd and send Wolfsburg through to the next round. The man of the match went to Angelo Henriquez, who scored two goals and assisted one other. He has shown us how he has really developed as a player over the year.

Christian Tello scored in his team's losing effort

Wolfsburg Get Stunned by Hoffenheim

WOLFSBURG VS HOFFENHEIM
2-3
Memphis Depay, Angelo Henriquez

After Wolfsburg announced that they have successfully qualified for the Champions league, expect some fireworks on the field. They said that they could do it and now they have, so expect the players to give back to the fans with some good on field performances. Wolfsburg opened the scoring through a good finish by Memphis Depay after 18 minutes(1-0). But Hoffenheim would strike with scoring two inside the next 10 minutes, giving them the lead(1-2). They added to their lead after 70 minutes(1-3). Wolfsburg would pull a consolation goal back thanks to an Angelo Henriquez penalty(2-3).

Wolfsburg Finally Beat Dortmund

WOLFSBURG VS DORTMUND
3-2
Marco Reus(Dortmund)
Luiz Gustavo, Kevin De Bruyne, Angelo Henriquez

Wolfsburg would be looking to get back at Borussia Dortmund in this one, who they have been unable to beat to this point this season. Wolfsburg's midfielder Luiz Gustavo would get the game started, when he scored an easy tap in from a corner(1-0). De Bruyne would then add to the total for Wolfsburg with a deftly timed finish(2-0). On the stroke of half-time, Marco Reus would pull one back for Dortmund(2-1). Reus would then score again for Dortmund shortly after half-time to erase the lead(2-2). Angelo Henriquez would make sure that Wolfsburg would beat Dortmund, when he scored a goal long into injury time to give Wolfsburg the win(3-2).

EUROPA LEAGUE SEMI FINAL DRAW

The final selection of the EUROPA league semi finals being made.

Semi Final Draw

After Tottenham got shocked by Lille, it has left the door open for Wolfsburg to potentially grab their first piece of silverwear in EUROPE. Everton are also in with a good chance after overcoming Fiorentina on away goals. They will need to be in good form to beat Gladbach however, who are playing very well in the EUROPA league at the moment.

Wolfsburg Play Disappointing First Leg

WOLFSBURG VS LILLE
First Leg
1-2
Bas Dost

Wolfsburg will be looking to get a good first result in the first leg at home against Lille, they have not played many French teams in a competitive game as important as this so they may need to adjust their game. Wolfsburg did not get off to a good start, conceding early after a rare Ricardo Rodriguez mistake(0-1). Wolfsburg had to wait until the 72nd minute to pull one back through Bas Dost(1-1). Not too long later, Lille scored the crucial second away goal to clinch the win(1-2).

Leverkusen Avoid Relegation

WOLFSBURG VS LEVERKUSEN
2-3
Angelo Henriquez x2

Leverkusen will be needing to win this game if they want to guarantee that they will not be relegated. Leverkusen had a rocketing first half scoring 3 goals and Wolfsburg could not contain them(0-3). Despite Angelo Henriquez scoring two quick goals after half-time, but Wolfsburg were not up to the challenge(2-3).

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
The ex-Manchester United man was in great form in what was a tough month for Wolfsburg. He scored 6 goals this month, including 2 other assists.
unlucky in the first leg against Lille though im sure you can turn it around
Not a great month, but you got into the semis of the Europa League, and even though you lost, the same happened vs Porto so you never know! Nice update. :)
Ahh not the best month better luck in the upcoming one
the loss to Hoffenheim was unfortunate, keep it up tho!

Wolfsburg Play Incredible Game to Comeback

WOLFSBURG VS LILLE
Second Leg (Lille Lead 1-2)
4-2
Maximillian Arnold, Angelo Henriquez x2, Memphis Depay
Angelo Henriquez

Wolfsburg have been on a poor run of late, they have struggled to keep the opponent from scoring and if they cant do that and overcome this first leg defeat, then the fans should be very disappointed. Wolfsburg got the crucial first goal, when Maximillian Arnold scored a well timed finish(1-0). The Wolfsburg lead was doubled when EUROPA League goal scoring machine, Angelo Henriquez put another away(2-0). Shortly after the break, Wolfsburg would score again through Memphis Depay who put away another solid finish(3-0). Henriquez would score again moments later to put the game away, by this stage - all of the Lille fans were leaving(4-0). Though they would score two consolation goals, they meant nothing at this stage. The man of the match was the double goal-scorer Angelo Henriquez. The striker was in great form in front of goal this game.

The Small Group Of Wolfsburg Fans Praising Their Players

Wolfsburg Dominate Augsburg

WOLFSBURG VS AUGSBURG
4-0
Kevin De Bruyne, Daley Blind, Angelo Henriquez (PEN), Christian Träsch
Chritian Träsch

Wolfsburg are hoping to end the season on a high, with only two games to go, they will be looking to win them both for their fans, also they will want to be in good form leading up to the EUROPA league final. The game started well for Wolfsburg when Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring with a classy goal(1-0). Blind doubled the total shortly after half time(2-0). A penalty calmly taken by Henriquez allowed Wolfsburg to put the game to bed(3-0). But Christian Träsch would score one more to finish off Augsburg(4-0). The man of the match went to Christian Träsch, who scored a very nice late goal and assisted one other. The German has been in great form all year.

Wolfsburg Too Good for Stuttgart

WOLFSBURG VS STUTTGART
3-2
Alexandre Lacazette x2, Angelo Henriquez
Alexandre Lacazette

For the last game of the season, you can expect to see Wolfsburg come out with all guns blazing. They have been playing attacking football all year and don’t expect it to stop. Alexandre Lacazette opened the games scoring with a terrific finish on 11 minutes(1-0). He then scored again 40 minutes later to double the Wolfsburg lead(2-0). But an error from Knoche allowed Werner to score an impressive effort from 15 metres(2-1). But it was all to waste when Angelo Henriquez made a terrific run and ended it with an even better finish to put the game away(3-1). Stuttgart would then score another consolation goal to end the game at 3-2. The man of the match was the man who scored the opening two goals, Alexandre Lacazette, the Frenchman was in great touch in front of goal and has really had a good season since joining the German side.

Wolfsburg can Win in Europe

WOLFSBURG VS EVERTON
1-0
Memphis Depay
Timo Horn

The highly anticipated final of the EUROPA league, neither of these two teams were expected to get this far, but they have and now they will be playing it out in front of 10's of thousands of supporters. Early in the game, Wolfsburg were being dominated by Everton, and on the 13th minute mark, Barkley hit the cross bar with his shot. The deflection fell to Memphis Depay who sprinted the moment he received the ball, he ran down the left-wing, cut inside and then hit a stupendous finish in the bottom left corner past Tim Howard(1-0). Then right on the stroke of half-time, Everton received a corner that was crossed into the head Gareth Barry, who was knocked over by Angelo Henriquez, giving Everton a penalty shot. The shot was to be taken by Leighton Baines who had not missed any of his 7 penalties this season, he was just going to have to get this one past Timo Horn to tie it up. But when he ran into hit the pen, Timo made one of the greatest penalty saves, getting a fingertip on the ball and deflecting it into the post. Wolfsburg would go into the second-half with a "park the bus" mentality. Wolfsburg had not parked the bus well throughout the season, so they were going to need to be at their best against Everton. That is exactly what they did, as they held onto the game and CLINCHED THEIR FIRST EVER PIECE OF EUROPEAN SILVERWEAR. The man of the match would be the incredible goal-keeper; Timo Horn. Who made an incredible penalty save and 12 other notable stops.

Wolfsburg celebrating with the fans after their EUROPA League Win

PLAYER OF THE MONTH

The Wonderkid German GK has won the player of the month for May, purely on the fact that he won the EUROPA league for Wolfsburg. His save off the Baines penalty, and the continuous rain of shots that followed show how experienced the 21-year old is, he is going to be a real star for Club and Country eventually.

END OF SEASON REVIEW - VFL WOLFSBURG

Bundesliga Position - 3rd, 69 points.

Player of the Season - Christian Träsch

This award was very hard to choose. I went over the stats many times and it was between him and Ricardo Rodriguez, but eventually I decided by virtue of who I was expecting to play better - so I gave it to Christian. He averaged a rating of 7.44, scored 4 goals and assisted 7.

Biggest Surprise - Memphis Depay

I was planning on giving this award to Träsch, but I thought it would not be fair that he won two, so I gave it to Memphis. Depay joined at the start of the year and didn’t score many goals, but since Christmas, he has been banging home the goals, and started to surprise me with how often he was doing it.

Best Signing of the Year - Alexandre Lacazette

The signing of this young-Frenchman has to be one of the best bargains I have ever done. £3.3M for him is just ridiculous, he scored 10 in 13 from January, including 4 in one of them. He will definitely grow to be a club legend.

Most Disappointing Player - Vierinha

To be fair, he only played 15 games this season, but when he did play - he was hugely disappointing. Scoring only two goals in all competitions, will look to move him on in the summer.
