Dunlop Looking for A New Right Back?

Wolfsburg's reported transfer targets at right back. Rafael (Top Left), Azpilicueta (Top Right), Mattia De Sciglio (Bottom Left), Lukasz Piszczek (Bottom Right)

Multiple reports from all clubs involved have shown that Wolfsburg have been interested in the 4 players above. We have also learnt that they have place bids for De Sciglio, Azpilicueta and Rafael; with Lukasz just being monitored by the club at the moment.

But Wolfsburg are not the only club rumoured to be in the running for Rafael and Azpilicueta. With PSG also rumoured to have placed bids in for both players, both rumoured to be in the vicinity of £23M.

The Manchester United man is rumoured to accept an offer from PSG rather than Wolfsburg as he wants to go to a bigger club, and PSG fills that role.

Azpilicueta has also been rumoured with a move away from Chelsea since the end of the season. He has been with the Blues since 2012, but he has reportedly fallen out of favour with Jose Mourinho. Like Rafael, PSG have also put in a bid for the Spaniard. This one being more than Rafael, rumoured to be around the price of £30M, just showing how well Mourinho can work deals for his players.

Mattia De Sciglio is one of the brightest Italian talents, but his price from Milan may be what is stopping this deal from being permanent. The rumoured price to get him away from Milan is around £45M, possibly being too high for Dunlop.

Lukasz Piszczek has been settled at Dortmund, but Dunlop has been rumoured to be regularly attending games where the RB is playing, wanting to see how he performs. No price has been set yet but more could happen.
You should get Clyne B)
@Alex - i am looking at lots of other different options
Some classy fullbacks there, hopefully you can bring one in! :)

Wolfsburg Set to Purchase Volkswagen Arena

Wolfsburg Playing at Volkswagen Arena Last Year

The Wolfsburg fans have been blessed with the news that Wolfsburg are now planning to buy Volkswagen stadium. Wolfsburg have been playing at the stadium for 10 years, but they have not owned it. Wolfsburg have enjoyed much success at the arena, having won their first Bundesliga title their in 09' and just this year they clinched Champions League football in front of their home fans.

The price has not been released to the public yet, but the rumours are is that if Wolfsburg do purchase the stadium, it may not only receive a name change, but an expansion and under-ground heating.

Dunlop may also be featuring on one of the Stands, but only if he can carry the teams form on from last season.
Dunlop has told the press that he thinks it is very important the team owns the stadium that they play in. It gives the fans a sense of belonging. I also feel that the stadium has already brought success to the club, and that having to move elsewhere could not only potentially ruin the fans enthusiasm, but make it harder to bring in the tickets as it could be further away.

Apparently these rumours have come to the surface after Dunlop dropped some hints in a pre-season press conference, that they may be purchasing the stadium so they can expand so that the fans can watch some new big name players in the future. With the rumours surrounding Sami Khedira and Matthias Ginter.

Wolfsburg Will be Looking to Improve on Last Years Success, but Maybe Under a Different Name

Expect more to be announced on this later.
Hopefully you do buy the ground!

Wolfsburg Welcome 2 Wonderkids to the Club

Dunlop has continued his young rebuild of Wolfsburg, with today announcing the signings of two youngsters for Wolfsburg; Nadir Bergamo and Bastian Dorow .

Italian defensive midfielder, Nadir Bergamo, 16, was signed from Seria A club Parma for £7.25M, a fee that some Parma fans might find a bit small for the talent of the player. He came up through the Parma ranks, dominating all games from the midfield, many scouts have labelled him as the next Yaya Toure; as he can score goals and is very strong on the ball and a talented passer.

The German CB, 15, was signed from fellow German side Mainz for £3M, another Dunlop bargain, who has really shown how he can get the cheapest prices for Wolfsburg. Bastian has been labelled as a player a lot like current German CB Mats Hummels. This young signing shows how Dunlop is looking to rebuild this Wolfsburg side to contend for the future.

Wolfsburg See Two Depart from Volkswagen Arena

Daniel Caliguiri has left the club for £3.2M to go to fellow German Side Frankfurt

Ivan Perisic has been at the club since 2012, and has now gone to Liverpool for £5M

Wolfsburg have today said goodbye to two players. Daniel Caliguiri and Ivan Perisic, both who have been at the club since 2012 have today said good-bye for a combined fee of £8.2M. Perisic will leave Germany for his first spell in English football, with Liverpool welcoming him with open arms. The fans were a little disappointed with the sale a Perisic, after he scored some crucial goals last season; they are more disappointed they made a loss on him. After arriving shortly before Dunlop arrived, Daniel was only able to get one game in Dunlop's system particularly because he did not play a position that was available. The fans were not saddened to see him leave, and happy they made some money despite him not featuring all that much last year.
Two good signings! Sad to see Perisic go though, but you got a pretty good fee for him :)

Two More Leave Wolfsburg

German RB Sebastian Jung and 22 year old CAM Ibrahim Sissoko have been sold by Wolfsburg to Borussia Dortmund and FC Nürnberg respectively.

The more impressive deal here, is that Dunlop got £10M out of Dortmund for Jüng who made a small amount of performances for Wolfsburg last season. Sissoko was sold for £500k, he has been at the club for 3 years and has been loaned out for all of them, never making a career Wolfsburg start.

Despite the fact that the fans liked Jung, they are very happy that they got the price that they did for him.

THE BIG 100 REPLIES - THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER EVEN CLICKED ON MY STORY EVEN BY ACCIDENT - SPECIAL THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO HAS REPLIED AS WELL. WELL DONE TO ALEXTHFC FOR BEING THE BIG 100

I think that KDB will be underwhelming for you, and that other players such as Depay will really step up in the leadership role this season.

Wolfsburg Announce Naldo as 2014/15 Captain

Brazillian CB Naldo has been announced as the Wolfsburg captain for the upcoming season. The role has been filled by Benaglio in the past. But the Swiss GK has been pushed out of the squad by up and coming German Timo Horn. Many would have thought that vice-captain Luiz Gustavo would be given the call-up. But Dunlop obviously sees more leadership in Naldo.

Naldo has been at the club since 2012 after transferring from Werder Bremen. The CB was the rock for Wolfsburg last season, leading them to 3rd place in the league. He also scored a few very nice free-kicks throughout the season.

Naldo told the press that it is a real honour to captain a club that he holds dear in his heart.

Naldo will have to wait to put the captains arm band on however, as he has recently picked up a knock and will miss a few games. Luiz Gustavo is likely to receive the call up.

Dunlop Sits Down to Discuss Wolfsburg Tactics

After declining multiple times throughout Wolfsburg's run last season. Dunlop has now sat down with BBC Sport to discuss the tactics that he played throughout the season.

The first tactic they discussed is the one pictured above, quickly after Dunlop showed the picture, he was asked about the vacant LCM position. Which he pointed out was a deep lying playmaker, and then said that they would have to wait to see who would fill it. He said that this is the formation that we used for the majority of the last season. He said that the fact that he had 3 capable strikers, and 5 (LB, RB, CAM, CM,CM) who could feed the ball to them made the opposition constantly worry about where they would be getting it from. This formation really shined Ricardo Rodriguez and Christian Träsch, who had incredible seasons as supporting full-backs. He also told the press to expect more of this formation throughout the seasons to come.

The second tactic, a new one that will be implemented by Wolfsburg this season, leaves a lot to be desired. Dunlop has labelled this as his own 'slightly more attacking park-the-bus' which we saw Jose Mourinho implement in important games where he looked to not concede. Again it was picked up that he had not listed a CB, where Dunlop again told the BBC Sport that they could wait for further information, or that he has not made up his mind yet. He said that his squad has been running this tactic in training and that not only are they keeping out goals, but they are still scoring them. He said that the importance of the mid CB being a covering ball-playing CB, improves the coverage and passing of the team.

The final tactic, which we saw in action a few times last season. Is Dunlop's all out attack; he used it in their 6-0 flogging of POAK and other dominate games. The important part of this tactic he pointed out, is that the striker played up front is deadly quick, like Memphis and Alexandre. It is also crucial that the DM can play long balls ahead to the wingers and striker.

Dunlop Brings Two More In

Shortly after meeting with the BBC to discuss his tactics, Wolfsburg manager Alexander Dunlop has hosted a press conference just outside of Volkswagen Arena, where he would introduce his two new signings publicly to the club.

As the Press waited anxiously outside the press booth, Dunlop was the first to walk out of the tunnel, before he sat down, he signalled to the door. In walked Wolfsburg's newest signings for a combined fee of £23.25M.

Sami Khedira has been at Liga BBVA runners up Real Madrid since 2010, when he arrived from German Club Stuttgart. The 27-year old spoke to the press weeks ago saying that he was starting to see himself with a move away from Real Madrid, and possibly back to Germany. After being offered numerous contracts, including champions Bayern and ex-club Stuttgart, he decided that he wanted to join a club that was not top, but getting there. So this year Khedira has joined Wolfsburg. This has also ended the speculation about who will be playing in the second midfield role. He will likely be rotated with Luiz Gustavo and Mikel Arteta through the year. His fee was £13.25M pounds. The German-international is thoroughly looking forward to getting back into German football and may even play in Wolfsburg's opening friendly in three days.

Closely following Khedira, was 20-year old hot German defensive prospect, Matthias Ginter; who was signed from Borussia Dortmund for £10M. This versatile up and coming youth player only joined Dortmund last season from Freiburg, but could not make any starting appearances in the league. He is also likely to fill the role that Dunlop did not set in the tactics meeting. Dortmund fans are fuming at this sale, saying that he is going to be one of the best German talents and that the fee they got for him is a complete waste.

The news of these purchases is only going to continue to grow Wolfsburg, who are now recognised as not only one of the top teams in Germany, but after winning in the EUROPA league they are considered one of the better clubs in the world. Shirt signings are also set to improve, as Khedira is going to be a hot purchase in stores.
