Liverpool Sign Dortmund Prospect Alexander Isak
January 14th 2020
Liverpool announced the signing of Dortmund striker and Sweden international Alexander Isak. The two clubs apparently agreed upon the fee of 18.000.000€ and if he ever leaves Liverpool, Dortmund will also get 30% of the money from the new deal. Alexander was unhappy with his playing time in BVB so when Liverpool came knocking, he happily said yes. He has signed a 2 year contract and will be earning €26.000 p/w at Liverpool and will wear the number 11, which ex-Liverpool player Mohamed Salah once wore. Isak has already met with Keith Millen and will be making his debut against Accrington in 3 days from now. The money of course came from the Gomez sale. While certainly not his replacement, he's still a great addition to the club.
Here's some key moments from his press conference:
"First of all, Isak, welcome to Liverpool. What made you join a club that is so different from Dortmund? I mean, Dortmund plays in the Bundesliga and Liverpool in League 1. So basically, what attracted you to a lower division club?"
"Thanks for welcoming here. I know this transfer may be a surprise to many, but I really wanted to join this magnificent club. First of all, I highly respect Jean-Jacques and yes even though he's inactive right now, I am really excited to play under him when he returns. Moreover, I want to help Liverpool become the club it once was. Reclaim what was theirs, or rather ours. I really believe I have the ability to do so."
"What is your message to the supporters?"
"I know the fans here are family to the players.I would like to start treating them like family as well and I hope they will accept it. I want to hear them chant my name in Anfield. I am ready to touch the "This Is Anfield" sign. I am ready to become a Liverpool legend."
