Marcel Schmid - I have another year on my contract and I intend to see it through. I have not yet had a conversation with the board concerning my future but I am really enjoining it here and I owe this club a lot.

Europa League 2020

Manchester City win the Europa League for the 1st time in their history!

It isn’t the European trophy they were expecting when they brought in Pep Guardiola, but after being knocked out of the CL group stage they had to win it.

Summer Break 2020

The players will be back with the club ready for the first pre-season game on the 7th July.
This will give them 5 weeks to go on holiday and rest themselves ready for the oncoming season.

Liverpool the current holders have won the competition 6 times - 1977, 1978, 1981, 1984, 2005 and 2019

Barcelona have 5 to their name - 1992, 2006, 2009, 2011 and 2015

Liverpool are hoping to wrap up a memorable season that has seen them win the league for the first time in 30 years!

Barcelona surrendered their La Liga crown to their arch rivals Real Madrid, but a win here tonight will make them forget that!

Everyone is aware of Ernesto Valverde's tenure at the club which has seem them blow 3-0 leads in the Champions League against Roma and Liverpool. Can a win tonight help the fans forgive him? We will soon find out.



Just like in 2015, Rakitic put Barcelona ahead but with less than 10 minutes to go Salah leveled.

It was up to the best player in history to decide the game and he did that in extra time to win Barcelona's 6th CL crown and his 5th!

Tough loss for Liverpool. It's about time Barcelona triumphed on the grandest stage, though. It had been a while since their last victory - given the high-standards they set themselves.

When a team has been so dominant domestically over the past decade you wonder why it can't be replicated in Europe. And now Valverde may not be as hated. Potentially.

Helena Maier Schmid – Our life has changed so much this past year hasn’t it? I’m happy that you are doing what you always wanted, I know how much effort you have put in to get here.

Helena joined Marcel in Salzburg despite having a very successful journalism career. She planned on just moving temporarily to help him settle in the new way of life, but she soon found other things to do. Childhood friends she had lost contact with heard the news about Schmid’s appointment and got in touch to see if she was joining him.

And when ladies get talking…

This could just be what Schmid needs after a full season of management and guiding a club through it's first ever Champions League campaign! And getting them to the Quarter-Finals! The pressure this young manager has been under with the worlds eyes looking at him during their European campaign. It is a well earned break.

The board ask all their staff to go on holiday once the season finishes and they haven’t yet been in talks about his contract. He can think about what he wants on holiday but be away from all the press and questions.

The Salzburg board would be very silly to not extend his contract after such a successful season! A well-deserved break for Marcel and his wife.

What a gift to the end of a season! Cyprus is beautiful. My parents went there when they were young, said it was most beautiful place they have been to

Achieving occupational success is important but it just as important that every life success is celebrated in whatever way someone like Schmidt chooses. He has everything this holiday!
