Milwall Unlucky Not to Get Result At Home

Southampton demolished Milwall but the scoreline didn't reflect Milwall's efforts. The Lions went in front twice at The Den but Southampton came back twice to win 5-2. Dany N'Guessan scored against his former club inside the first minute but Rickie Lambert equalised from the spot after Jack Robinson fouled and got a yellow card for his troubles. Andy Keogh then put Southampton behind again when he scored thanks to Kelvin Davis' mistake but that man Lambert scored for a second time after Jack Robinson was sent off for a second yellow card. Rickie Lambert then got his third goal to put Saints in front for the first time in the match. Rudi Skacel scored a fine strike from the edge of the area, keeping goalie David Forde off guard. Jordan Rhodes then topped it off with his first goal since returning from an injury that kept him out of contention for three weeks.

Dany N'Guessan (Milwall)
Rickie Lambert (3) (Pen) (Southampton)
Andy Keogh (Milwall)
Jack Robinson
Rudi Skacel (Southampton)
Jordan Rhodes (Southampton)
Rickie Lambert (Southampton)

Final Score: Milwall 2-5 Southampton

Managers thoughts: I thought it was another brilliant performance from the lads tonight and Rickie (Lambert) has got his second hat-trick of the season which is unbelievable. Rudi (Skacel) also scored an absolute cracker which he is delighted about and also Jordan (Rhodes) is very happy that he got on the scoresheet today. I only have one negative which is that we didn't keep a clean sheet which was slightly disappointing.

Southampton Narrowly Win Boring Game

Adam Lallana scored the only goal of an overall boring game between Southampton and Coventry. Apart from the odd yellow card and Adam Lallana's goal, absolutely nothing happened.

Adam Lallana (Southampton)
Adam Lallana (Southampton)

Final Score: Southampton 1-0 Coventry

Managers Thoughts: No comment

Southampton Saved By Sharp

Southampton came from behind to equalise in the last minute against Derby who were the better team by far. Danny Fox was sent off for Southampton just after half-time and were made to pay when Miles Addison scored in the 62nd minute. But Billy Sharp, who came on off the bench, scored in the 92nd minute to save the Saints and deny Derby which would have ended Southampton's unbeaten season.

Danny Fox (Southampton)
Miles Addison (Derby)
Billy Sharp (Southampton)

Final Score: Southampton 1-1 Derby

Managers Thoughts: We were lucky really. Billy (Sharp) saved us which was even better considering he came off the bench. All credit to Derby, they were the better side and they deserved to win in all honesty.

Southampton's Unbeaten Season Comes To An Abrupt End

Reading hammered Southampton today at the Madejski stadium 5-1. Southampton scored first thanks to Jordan Rhodes' delightful chip over Adam Federici but Kaspars Gorkss header shortly afterwards made the scores level again. Irish forward Noel Hunt put the Royals ahead and Mikele Leigertwood then doubled Readings lead. Jose Fonte was then sent off on the stroke of half-time and the Saints were made to pay when Hunt got his second. Nathan Delfoneso got Readings fifth to top off a perfect performance for the Royals.

Jordan Rhodes (Southampton)
Kaspars Gorkss (Reading)
Noel Hunt (2) (Reading)
Mikele Leigetwood (Reading)
Jose Fonte (Southampton)
Nathan Delfoneso (Reading)

Final Score: Reading 5-1 Southampton

10-Man Cardiff Lose To Southampton

Southampton beat Cardiff 2-0 as the Bluebirds had a man sent off. Striker Rickie Lambert scored after 3 minutes and CB Birger Maertens scored his first Saints goal in the second half. Lee Naylor was later sent off for a second yellow card.

Rickie Lambert (Southampton)
Birger Maertens (Southampton)
Lee Naylor (Cardiff)
Adam Lallana (Southampton)

Final Score: Cardiff 0-2 Southampton

Managers Thoughts: Good game but we could have improved the scoreline. I am very glad for Birger (Maertens) and I know he will improve.
Big loss at Reading. In my Southampton save went 2-1 up, then 3-2 down game finished 5-3 to southampton :D

West Ham Narrowly Lose

Southampton beat West Ham despite losing Djibril Sidibe to suspension. Jordan Rhodes scored the only goal of the game and Djibril Sidibe was sent off for a second yellow card. Southampton are going through a dirty spell at the moment with players being sent off left, right and centre. This is their third sending off in four games. Iago Falque also came off thanks to an injury.

Jordan Rhodes (Southampton)
Iago Falque (Southampton)
Djibril Sidibe
Abdoulaye Faye (West Ham)

Final Score: Southampton 1-0 West Ham

Brighton and Southampton Can't Be Separated

Brighton came back twice times to draw 3-3 with Southampton. Sam Vokes opened the scoring as he fired past GK Kelvin Davis. Rickie Lambert then equalised when he hammered his shot in off the post. Lambert then fired Southampton into the lead thanks to fantastic vision from Tadanari Lee. Ashley Barnes made the scores level yet again just ten minutes after Lambert scored. Lambert then got another hat-trick after scoring a volley thanks to Adam Lallana's cross. Sam Vokes then scored the last goal of the game for both sides despite appeals of offside from the Saints players and supporters.

Sam Vokes (2) (Brighton)
Rickie Lambert (3) Southampton
Ashley Barnes (Brighton)

Final Score: Brighton 3-3 Southampton

Southampton Held In Another Thriller

Jordan Rhodes scored a hat-trick but Southampton wasted a 3-1 lead as they drew 3-3 with Nottingham Forest. Rhodes put Southampton in the lead on 41 minutes but Forest almost immediately equalised thanks to Ishmael Miller. Rhodes then made a perfect start to the second half after scoring on 46 and then got his third on 56 minutes. Greg Cunningham then scored what seemed to be only a consolation goal but then Chris Cohen scored the equaliser.

Jordan Rhodes (3) (Southampton)
Ishmael Miller (Nott. Forest)
Greg Cunningham (Nott. Forest)
Chris Cohen (Nott. Forest)

Final Score: Southampton 3-3 Nottingham Forest

South Coast Derby Ends In Draw

The South Coast Derby between Portsmouth ended in a draw. Southampton had goal disallowed after Adam Lallana was, in Adam Walkers strong opinion, onside despite what the linesman saw. Rickie Lambert opened the scoring with a beautiful shot past Stephen Henderson. Dave Kitson equalised with a rebounded shot after having his first saved by Kelvin Davis.

Rickie Lambert (Southampton)
Dave Kitson (Portsmouth)

Final Score: Portsmouth 1-1 Southampton
