I tend to find that a slightly lower than normal defensive line helps. A defensive cm, I play 4-1-2-3, combined with a fast tactical defender and big rock like vidic is really succesful.

Great Gordon Can't Deny United
4-5-1
Line Up - David De Gea, Rafael, Rio Ferdinand, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Tom Cleverley, Marek Hamsik, Ryan Giggs, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Wayne Rooney
Subs Used - Anderson
Went with 4-5-1 here with a view of keeping it tight and breaking them whenever possible & it worked to perfection. Both goals came in the first half courtesy of Tom Cleverley & Ashley Young, the home team had just 5 shots all game.
Sunderland 0 - 2 Manchester United
A Night To Remember In Madrid

I pretty much stuck with the same side from the Sunderland victory, the only exception being Fabio coming in for the knackered Evra, what a night it was for my red devils. After withstanding an opening 20mins of pressure from the home side we took the lead..Ashley Young the scorer. We seemed to of calmed things down however 5mins before half time Real went on the counter attack and scored. The rest of the game was entertaining as you could get and suprisingly it was us making the chances & one particular chance fell to Marek Hamsik who struck a shot worthy of winning any football match & from then we held on for the lead to take back to old trafford, result of the season.
Real Madrid 1 - 2 Manchester United
This is my formation. I find that it took me half a season to rebuild my team and learn the formation, but it gets results, attractive football, and its easy to include youngsters.

A nice victory from the lads tonight, Michael Owen finally got his first goal of the season on the sixth attempt & then Nani wrapped it up in stoppage. Javier Hernandez went off injured but proved to be only a knock, the FA cup quarter final fixture will follow soon.

4-4-2
Line Up - David De Gea, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Marek Hamsik, Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck

A pretty straightforward victory, We got an early goal through Antonio Valencia but Everton really gave it ago from then on and it forced me to switch to a more defensive approach and thankfully it worked. We even got another in stoppage, Valencia involved again this time to set up Wayne Rooney for his 19th league goal of the season.
Manchester United 2 - 0 Everton

Sick Nani Tackle Overshadows Fine Win
4-4-2
Line Up - David De Gea, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Ryan Giggs, Tom Cleverley, Nani, Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck
Subs Used - Paul Pogba, Anderson, Javier Hernandez
An emphatic win at Carrow Road over a weak Norwich side, we were infront very early on when Ryan Bennett put the ball in his own net & from then on it was domination. Danny Welbeck, Ashley Young & Nani got the other goals however there was abit of a downer on the night when Nani was sent off with a straight red for a two footed challenge, i fined him 1 weeks wages and he accepted so all is good.
Norwich City 1 - 4 Manchester United
Ronaldo's Sorry Return To Old Trafford
4-5-1
Line Up - David De Gea, Rafael, Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans, Patrice Evra, Michael Carrick, Marek Hamsik, Anderson, Nani, Antonio Valencia, Wayne Rooney
Subs Used - Ashley Young, Javier Hernandez
The best night of my managerial career, it was absolutely outstanding. We were 3-0 up by half time, Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand & Marek Hamsik the scorers..we dominated the whole game & we grabbed a couple more in the second half through Ashley Young & then Antonio Valencia to wrap things up. We can now look forward to the quarter final draw & hopefully push on after this amazing result.
Manchester United 5 - 0 Real Madrid
More Misery For Rock Bottom Rovers
4-4-2
Line Up - David De Gea, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Marek Hamsik, Tom Cleverley, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez
Subs Used - Paul Pogba, Fabio
A easy win Blackburn never really threatened which was good as it allowed us to run riot with all kinds of freedom. The goals came from Jonny evans (his first ever goal for Man Utd) Antonio Valencia & a Rooney double. Blackburn remain bottom of the table & because of this Steve Kean has been sacked as manager, to be honest it was coming.
Manchester United 4 - 0 Blackburn Rovers

United Title Charge Suffers A Setback
4-4-2
Line Up - David De Gea, Rafael, Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Marek Hamsik, Tom Cleverley, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck
Subs Used - Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Javier Hernandez
A disgusting performance from my team, Moussa Dembele got himself 2 but they ran out comfortable winners despite Michael Carricks consolation. We go back to the Cottage in a couple of days in the FA cup so il be after a major response! Ive told Javier he needs to pick himself up aswell as Tom Cleverley as they both had shockers, ive also given Marek Hamsik a rest as he really needs one.
Fulham 3 - 1 Manchester United
