Kamara linked with Villa post

Southampton manager Chris Kamara has been touted as a possible candidate for the vacant Aston Villa job. Brian McDermott has recently left for Newcastle following the sacking of Alan Pardew but Villa are still looking certain to win the Championship title despite a recent run of only one win in four games. Kamara though, has dismissed the speculation as rubbish. "I can't believe that people honestly think I'm going to leave so soon. I've barely even been here, barely played any games, so it wouldn't make sense to just go straight away." Kamara had two spells at Portsmouth, Southampton's bitter rivals, as a player so he was not well received by the fans to begin with, but he has quickly won them over.
DONT LEAVE!!! Build a project with Southampton now

Stelling backs Kamara to win promotion

Ex Sky Sports presenter Jeff Stelling has backed his former colleague Chris Kamara to take Southampton back into the Premier League. Unlike Kamara though, he believes they can go up this year rather than the next, after Saint's 3-1 win over Birmingham put them in to 10th place. Speaking on Radio FiveLive, Stelling said, "I believe Chris can take Southampton up this year, he has done well so far, they've got 3 wins in a row and maybe they can get even more than that. Chris has experience at taking Boro up from this level, so I have no doubts that he can do it again, although he will probably have to go up via the playoffs. I think Chris can do it though, definitely." Kamara has won 3 of his first 8, with 2 losses, but Saints fans were expecting to get promotion with ease at the start of this year, so it remains to be seen whether the fans will be happy with a fight for the top half.

Kamara relaxed before huge game

Southampton manager Chris Kamara has been surprisingly relaxed before his sides fixture against Ipswich which has been hyped as a play-off decider."I think we can win, but we don't have to worry if we don't. It's not as important as it has been hyped as, but we will still go out there and do our best." Saints fans will be hoping for a win, as they lie in 10th, two spots behind Ipswich.

Does 5-0 sound good to you? It does to me, but has that actually happened? (Hint: It hasn't)

Can Kamara take Saints up?

With only 3 games remaining in the npower Championship season and the league title having already been decided, the focus will definitely be on the relegation fight and also who can make their way into the play-offs and be the third side to gain promotion into the Premier League. This means that all eyes will be pointed towards Watford, Tranmere, Southampton, Brighton and Ipswich. Chris Kamara's Saints side are 2 points behind Tranmere after their victories over promotion rivals Brighton and Ipswich. Patjim Kasami has grabbed numerous goals to propel them up the table, but they still must face Stoke and Blackburn to get ahead of Tranmere or Watford. Although captain Rickie Lambert had said that the goal was survival, he has now admitted, happily, that they can gain promotion this year. "Well, we are only 2 points behind Tranmere and Watford. That clearly means we can make the play offs, we can gain on them and hopefully Brighton and Ipswich will falter, which would surely allow us to go up." Manager Kamara's former colleague Jeff Stelling has said that he expects Saints to go up, but will they crumble under the pressure?
