2013-08-09 17:19#126488 Pauker : Ha! Damn you Ayew! I'd get him to sign a new contract without the 30% transfer fee!

All he seems to have done is moan. He has such good potential but just doesn't like my team talks...he should try just concentrating on playing! I never planned on selling him so the 30% wouldn't matter but it is looking likely he will have to go :/

Ayew can warm the bench!

Andre Ayew, despite scoring his first goal for Chelsea in the recent game against Reading, he openly criticised his manager’s approach to his team talks accusing Wise of being extremely negative and not giving the team the praise that they deserved. It appears that Ayew may be regretting his decision to openly criticise the manager instead of keeping his concerns behind closed doors as Dennis Wise has spoken to media outside the training ground.

Wise has made it very clear that mutual respect between everyone associated with the club is paramount if they are to succeed this season. He explained that this did not involve openly speaking to the media about any issues regarding the club but instead the concerns should be resolved within the club. The Chelsea manager, who is known for his aggressive approach to the game, appears to have made it quite clear to the gathered journalists that Ayew will be seeing more of the bench in the coming games instead of the pitch. He went on to say he would be having a meeting with Ayew and his representatives in the not too distant future but he felt that Ayew had betrayed the club and their loyalty by speaking to the media instead of the management.

Ayew will now be increasingly concerned about his future at the club, especially with more speculation surrounding the imminent arrival of Andre Schurrle who has agreed to meet with Chelsea to discuss personal terms. It seems like Ayew’s Chelsea career will be over before it has even got started.
Nice update :) It seems right to drop him if he is moaning, and maybe sell him altogether, what do you plan to do?

I am really not sure what to do with them in the long term but he can expect to be sat on the bench for the upcoming Premier League games. He may get a look in in the cup competitions but is unlikely. The percentage on fee will scupper me making any real money from selling him so he is staying for now.

The fourth round of the Capital One Cup pitted Dougie Freedman’s Bolton Wanderers against the recently appointed manager of Chelsea, Dennis Wise. Dennis Wise had made it clear recently in the press that the club were struggling to find players who were match fit and that discussions were taking place behind the scenes in order to make improvements to the training regimes.

As a result of his concerns we saw Chelsea start with a starting 11 that included five players from the club’s under 18 team. Mitchell Beeney, Fankaty Dabo, Jesse Starkey, Ismail Seremba and Lamisha Musonda were all given their first start for Chelsea and given the opportunity to experience playing with some of the first team players. Wise has praised each of the youngsters on how dedicated they were to the team and that they appeared to want to stake a claim to a regular place. He went on to suggest this may not happen but he was pleased to know he could rely on youth players to step up when needed.

Chelsea have had their name entered into the draw for the quarter final stage of the competition and been put up against North London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur. This will be seen as a bigger challenge than against Bolton Wanderers but it will be interesting to see if Wise sticks with youth or brings back the more experienced players.
Nice win in the COC cup. As for Ayew he needs to be told and you have done just that.

Can't say I have ever been bothered about the CoC and it's just more games that we have to play! I didn't tell Ayew anything, Dennis Wise did ;)
Lamish Musonda is utter crap, great work in winning with him in your team :)

I have to use the likes of Musonda quite a bit at the moment as the players seem to lack fitness as the schedule is so busy. And to be fair, every time he has played, he has put in good performances.

Dennis Wise speaking to Chelsea TV: The month of September is one of the longest ones that the club will encounter this season. It includes a large number of games that test the player’s fitness very early on in the season. When this is combined with the travelling aspect of the games, especially in the Champions League campaign, we have had to ensure that our players are training well but also resting for the correct amount of time. If I am honest with you, the team’s fitness has started to become a concern. The players are putting in 100% into everything, which is what you expect; however, they need to start to realise that you don’t have to go full throttle for every minute of every game. Once they realise this they will be fitter and more prepared for the congested fixture list that we are facing.

What will stand out from this list of matches is the continued good start to our Champions League campaign as well as defeating Manchester United in the Capital One Cup. I will admit is always good to get one over on United but it is more important for the club to be competing in all available competitions. Another highlight of the month was the win against Bolton. As I have said, as the month went on fitness of the first team became a concern, and with the majority of the reserve team being loaned out before my arrival, we had to turn to the under 18’s team. The players that came into the side showed why they are at this club. They showed that our youth development is of an excellent standard and furthermore they showed that Chelsea have a very bright future ahead of them in terms of depth.

I would like to thank, for the second month in a row, the FA for choosing me as the manager of the month. I would like to acknowledge the great backroom staff that I have alongside with me. They make this job a lot easier by sharing their expertise and experience and I believe we have one of the best setups in football.

Chelsea travelled to Spain to face Malaga with the opportunity to strengthen their position at the top of the group table. However, nobody expected Chelsea to come away with such a convincing win especially as they decided to play a very defensive formation. We have now come accustom to seeing Wise setting his team out in a 4-1-4-1 formation which has the players focus on using their pace on the counter attack in order to create the chances at goal. It is evident from the four nil score line that Wise is confident, that despite the team not having much possession of the ball, that his side will score the goals when the chances are there for the taking.

Dennis Wise continued to rotate the team in order to compensate for the busy schedule. The only surprise was his decision to give a first team start to George Cole who came in for the fatigued Eden Hazard who spent the whole 90 minutes on the bench. Unfortunately for the youngster he was injured only 29 minutes into the game and this saw the end to his first appearance. On came Mata who helped himself to a goal and added to the two goals that Ramires had already scored from the defensive midfielder position. The match was finished off with a goal from the ever present Frank Lampard.

Wise has praised his team with their ability to still create chances despite being asked to take a step back from their usual attacking style. He went on to suggest that if the team managed to qualify from the group with a game to spare that he would bring back in a number of the under 18 squad that saw action in the Capital One Cup.
A good win against a tough team. Glad to see you are using some youth in the UCL. I did that with Bayern and just dominated due to my youth being too good :P

I was surprised how comfortable it was. The youngsters have pretty poor ratings but seem to be performing really well alongside the better quality ones. I am looking forward to the reserve team coming back next season as the majority of them are on loan (happened before I joined).

Dennis Wise speaking on Chelsea TV: Schalke away was the game we identified early on as the clash that would pose use the biggest challenge. They are a very good team that are becoming regulars in the Champions League. They have a very good understanding on the pitch and are a very difficult team to break down.

We went into the game with the aim to sit back, allow Schalke to have possession of the ball and rely on the team’s ability to put away the chances that we do create. I have to admit, and I have said this to him, but I was surprised to see that Ashley Cole was the first to score. It is not a regular occurrence but from the chance he created for himself it was clear that maybe he should be played higher up the pitch! After that the rest of the match went according to plan and it was great to see Ramires grab himself a second brace in a row in European football.

I admittedly was disappointed that we conceded the two goals and if it wasn’t for us already being three nil ahead then I would have been worried. Instead I had the upmost confidence in the team to see out the game and we came away with the three points we needed to qualify.

I will state here that I will stick to my word and look to the under 18’s who played admirably in the Capital One Cup and I am sure they will show their quality a second time.

Injury to Mikel

After the meeting with Dennis Wise live on Chelsea TV it was announce that John Obi Mikel would be out of action for up to 6 weeks with a fractured wrist. Part way through the game Mikel had been pushed off the ball and he fell awkwardly.

In a strange turn of events it appears that Andre Ayew, who recently openly criticised Dennis Wise, is going to be the first choice replacement for Mikel. It is not clear if Ayew has made an apology to Wise but it looks like if Wise wants to move on from the incident and give him the chance to prove his worth, especially after spending £15 million on the player.
Not good to see Mikel out but you should be able to live without him :P
