Wonderkid Bermúdez makes Spurs debut
Samuel Bermúdez made his Spurs Debut in the Capital One Cup 3rd round vs Wigan
Tottenham's Portuguese head coach, André Villas-Boas is known for favoring youth. The incoming transfers during his time at Spurs stand at the average age of just 24. With Spurs set to play Stoke just 4 days later in the Premier League, the Tottenham boss decided to play his rest his star players, including the likes of Eriksen, Isco, Lamela and Hugo Lloris. One of those to get the nod was 18 year old Spanish attacking midfielder, Samuel Bermúdez. The 18 year old certainly had a debut to remember.
Bermúdez arrived at Spurs in 2015 after being poached from the Real Betis academy, costing Spurs in the region of £800k. Seen in a similar mold as Eriksen, as well as recent arrival Isco, Villas-Boas has looked to the pair to take him under their wings and help improve his game. The Spanish youngster boasts a great burst of speed, excellent dribbling and an eye for a pass.

Bermúdez was finally given his big chance in a third round Capital One Cup clash against Wigan Athetlic. The game started off slow, but Bermúdez certainly had a point to prove. Several clever passes saw team-mates in on goal, but Scott Carson was equal to everything that Spurs were throwing at him.
In the 34th minute, Luke Shaw beat two Wigan players to feed the ball into the box. After several scrappy moments, the ball eventually fell to the feet of Bermúdez, who fired the shot in from 8 yards out, low into the corner. It was clear to see the delight on the his face as he was swamped by several of his team-mates, but the attacking midfielder hadn't finished there.
Moments later, a lovely ball over by the Spaniard the top saw Mitrovic free of the last defender, but his effort was tame and easily saved by the Wigan keeper.
In the 64th minute, Mitrovic played a lovely one two with James Ward-Prowse, who sent the ball forward to Serbian striker Mitrovic. Bermúdez had carried on his run, and a lovely reverse ball saw him through on goal, before Bermúdez struck the ball from just outside the area, which trickled into the bottom left hand corner.
He finished the match with two goals, and was rightly awarded Man of the Match for his impressive display.
