Quan Lei Deal to Juventus falls through.
Villas-Boas (above) is still keen to add the midfielder to his ranks.
Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a life line in the pursuit for Chinese youngster, Quan Lei.
Lei, 19, had agreed a deal that would see him switch Benfica for Italian giants, Juventus - the move saw him reject Tottenham Hotspur in the process. Juventus announced the signing on of the wonder-kid on their website several days ago.
However, it seems as though Juventus Boss' have been left red faced after it was confirmed that the deal could not be completed due to the fact that Italy only allow two players from outside of the EU to register with the squad - Lei, was the third.
The door is now wide open should Spurs decide to make a move and despite the youngster rejecting the chance to join Villas-Boas' side first time of asking, the Portuguese boss remains keen on adding the youngster to his squad, even though the North London side recently completed the signing of Pinto from River Plate.
Levy is believed to be preparing to fly out to Portugal to negotiate a deal with the Benfica board, with a deal worth of around £12m set to be agreed. The deal, however, could rise as high as £20m.

Dória, full name Matheus Dória Macedo, is a Brazilian Center Back who ply's his trade with Spanish side, Real Sociedad. He joined the club 4 years ago in a deal worth £8m. He has since gone on to make a total of 188 appearances in all competitions, scoring 8 goals and grabbing 7 assists.
Spurs have kept an eye on Dória, and were keen to bring him to White Hart Lane before he moved to Spain, instead opting to move for English Center Back, Steven Caulker.
The Brazilians form last year have lead to Spurs reigniting their interest in the defender and are hopeful of completing a deal in the near future, especially after the sale of Nkoulou to Real Madrid. The Center Back made 35 league appearances last year, and according to statistics website WhoScore.com, was the best center back in the league - finishing the season with a rating of 7.75.
Competition: Mourinho(left) & AVB (right) are set to compete for Dória
Dória recently spoke to Brazilian sports paper, Samba, claiming that both Chelsea and Spurs contacted his agent, and has not ruled out the possibility of a move to either club, stating:
"My agent was contacted by two clubs in England - Tottenham and Chelsea. They are trying to negotiate with my Agent and my club. I love Real Sociedad and would love to stay another year. But in football, anything is possible."
The defender is believed to have a release clause in his contract, around £40m.
