Season One: August Manager Talk

Whitehawk TV Reporter: "Hello William. First of all, congratulations on a very successful first month in charge of Whitehawk FC. What are your reactions to the six games played?"

William MW: "Thank you. I don't think anybody could possibly be disappointed with the start which we have made to the league season. For me, we had near enough the perfect run of form. The most important thing is to win games and we won most of our games very comfortably. It is very pleasing to see us score a lot of goals and credit goes to our attackers for that. Our defending could improve and we discovered that we had some weaknesses when we were beaten by Hayes but that was more down to the squad being very jaded after having played against Ebsfleet just two days before that. Overall, however, I can't complain with the month just gone."

Whitehawk TV Reporter: "Journalists have underlined the pace of players such as Danny Mills, Pa Saikou Kujabi and others as the main reason for your team's early good form. How important has this physical advantage been for you this season?"

William MW: "Yes, we do have a lot of very quick, nippy players who can beat others in a leg race and that has undoubtedly been an important factor in our success so far. However, a lot of our good fortune has come from patient, fluid passing play where we waited for the chances to appear. The players have played some very good football and if you were to take their pace out of the equation, they would still win games comfortably."

Whitehawk TV Reporter: "Fixture congestion hit you hard in that 4-0 defeat to Hayes & Yeading. Has this changed any of your plans for the squad in order to stop this from happening again?"

William MW: "No, not necessarily. Of course it can be a struggle for players to play in two high-intensity matches in a matter of days but that's football and every other team in the world has the same issue every now and then. It is still very early days this season and some players who may have sat out of some pre-season preparation are still finding their feet this season. The players should hopefully hit peak fitness and performance levels by November, and that is when you will see a more fluid transition from game to game."

Whitehawk TV Reporter: "Last question. You are now top of the league, are you confident of remaining there?"

William MW: "Yes, I am very confident. We have proven already this season that we have what it takes to overcome tough obstacles and even though we do have a lot to learn, we still have a lot more to give and we can play at even higher levels than what we have been at so far. This season won't be a walk in the park but I do believe that we have every chance of staying where we are and winning the league title, and hopefully with consumate ease!"

Season One: September

Results

We played six games this month and remained unbeaten through-out. Picking up four wins, we slipped up just twice against Wealdstone and Bishop's Stortford, where both games finished 2-2. We were victorious in other three leagues games, which included a 4-1 rout of Gosport away from home. An FA Cup qualifying tie against Ebsfleet at home brought great excitement in a game where we ran out narrow 2-1 victors. Overall, I am delighted that we managed to remain unbeaten this month, scoring 15 goals in the process. However, we conceded eight goals during this period which needs a lot of working on. Hopefully we can improve in this area of the game over the coming months.

Player Of The Month

It was no easy task to pick out a single player this month but Sergio Torres' performances deserve some amount of recognition, in my eyes. The Argentinian midfielder has been one of our real driving forces in attack and his creativity has created chance-after-chance for our goalscorers. Torres got his name on the score-sheet this month too, posting a hat-trick in our 4-1 win over Gosport. The skillful little South American has been a key part of our side so far and continues to amaze us with his ability.

Sergio Torres' Season Stats
Appearances: 8
Goals: 4
Assists: 2
MotM Awards: 1

Yellow Cards: 0
Red Cards: 0

Pass Completion Ratio: 83%
Dribbles Per Game: 0.88
Fouls Committed: 1
Fouls Against: 5

Average Rating: 7.34

Vanarama Conference South

We now hold a five point lead at the top of the table although we could potentially be moved to second place on goal difference as our fellow title chasers have a few games-in-hand. I'm delighted with our points return so far this season and we are on course for at least a play-off spot. Of course, I am expecting to win the title this season but my only focus right now is to earn as many points as possible in the coming months.

October Fixtures

We play just five fixtures next month, four of which are in the league. A daunting away trip to over-performing Basingstoke is the highlight of our month as we will need to win that game to make a real statement of intent for the title. Wingate & Finchley are our opponents in the FA Cup qualifying round and we will want to win that game. My target for this month is 7 points, which should be easily achievable. Let's just hope we secure our expectations.

No1VillaFan, yeah we need to cut down on goals conceded :/
Feliks, thanks! :)
captainbrickarms, am I missing something here? :P
Niko, I would imagine that, as a Brighton fan, the Captain would probably dislike Whitehawk as they're from the same city. :P

EDIT: 600 posts. :P
