Deadline Day: The Rush Hour
Bayern Munich have confirmed three deadline day signings.
David Beckham has worked quickly to tie three players to the club.
The first of which, is his former comrade at Aston Villa,
Jesus Blanco. Beckham has described the deal as "an absolute steal", with Villa allowing the Paraguay international to be reunited with Beckham for just 15 million. Blanco broke into the Villa first team immediately after arriving from hometown club Cerro Porteno in 2015.
He wraps up his career at Villa Park with 73 appearances in the Premier League over 3 years, most of which came under Beckham, as well as having scored 17 league goals.
The versatile 21-year-old can play as either a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder, or a striker, and will now look to carve out a successful career at the Allianz Arena with the man who handed him his Premier League debut as well as overseeing his rise to fame and success.
"Jesus is a magnificent player, I have no idea why Aston Villa want to sell him for just 15 million. Personally I think he is worth 20 million at least. It is an absolute steal," the 43-year-old manager of Bayern described to reporters.
The second signing is another teenager favored by Beckham and vice versa. English-Italian
Fedele Lenti won his first England cap under Beckham just a few weeks ago against Japan and has now linked up with him in the club business as well, joining from former club Fulham for a whooping 18 million.
The Italy-born 19-year-old plays as a central defender and is expected to be given a role in the first-team.
He has described of his excitement of working with David Beckham in both club and country.
"David Beckham is an awesome manager and to be able to work with him in both club and country is frankly, amazing. I've pinched myself countless times since signing the contract," said a clearly excited Lenti, on his move. "I know he paid a lot for me and I want to repay his faith."
The latest inclusion to the Munchen squad is West Ham full-back and England Under-21 international
Ryan Garland, who is expected to make a full England debut sometime soon, and with the 21-year-old now linking up with England boss Beckham in Munich, he is sure to be called up to the senior team soon.
Bayern is understood to have paid 13.75 million for Garland.
Garland wowed supporters as he broke into the first team in 2014, barely two years after he joined the Under-18s at West Ham from their youth academy. He is now considered one of the best ever talents produced by the Irons alongside players like
Frank Lampard, and has made a grand total of 115 Premier League appearances in over 7 years.
With these English-based players now in the team, Bayern Munich are surely a force to be reckoned with.
Although having spent more than 40 million on the Premier League trio, Beckham has stated that he has "no regrets" and that "critics will know why I've brought these guys at the end of the season".
It seems that the former Aston Villa manager is pulling out all the stops to lead Bayern Munich to their 26th Bundesliga title.
