Scouting & Transfers

The actual mechanics of scouting and transfers hasn’t changed since last year’s game. You can still get partial scout reports, full scout reports, analyst reports, and buying and selling players still works in the same way.

There have been a couple of changes / new features added to the whole experience, however.

The most notable changes to the scouting of players have been to the Scout Report and Scout Suggestion quick views that you get in both your inbox and in the Scouting Centre.

A new-look format has given these reports a more polished finish and they blend in quite well to interface. They just look pretty, however.

A major change to how transfer may work is the removal of a fixed ‘Value’ of players. The Value has been replaced by Transfer Value range, which gauges the approximate sale value of a player with a lower and a higher range.

It is perhaps more realistic and allows for a wider interpretation of how much each player is worth.

Looking for the next best wonderkids in the game? A new feature, in the form of NxGn Top 50 Wonderkid list, provides an update to your inbox each year of who the top ranked wonderkids in the world are.

You’ll get this at the end of March, when the list is finalised, and it can certainly be beneficial for those who like long-running saves to really understand who the best new wonderkids are.

One of the main features announced for this game was a new feature for Transfer Deadline Day.

At the beginning of the day, as with previous versions, you’ll be asked if you wish to take part. If you do, the entire theme of the game changes to the iconic yellow and black which has dominated our TV screens on football’s holy day.

The change in theme sets the mood and the countdown clock that appears whenever you hit ‘Continue’ adds drama.

Admittedly, I was a bit sceptical about this feature when I first read about it. I was unsure as to how much it would impact the game. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the little bits and pieces that came with it.

Along with the usual questions from the media, live updates of completed transfers flash across your screen when you hit Continue. You get to see a page dedicated to Transfer Rumours based on actual interest in players from clubs in the game.

However, the best part of this feature has to be the agent offers. Agents will actively push the boat and offer their clients as potential transfers to you.

As they do this, they will alert you to the availability of their clients (whether they’re definitely planning to leave or just testing the waters) to provide you with information as to how likely a deal could be made.
