Introduction
Building on many years of experience (ESL17, WSL18, WSL19, WSL20), with over 35,000 downloads and Steam subscriptions, welcome to the World Super League - Extreme Edition.
This is an enhanced version of the original WSL for FM20. The main difference is the addition of 80 new clubs, but also a change in the overall league structure to make it even more competitive and challenging.
WSL is a 'Super League' that replaces the original leagues in England, with a custom league structure where 908 clubs from around the world play together. This is the ultimate test of your management and tactical skills.
This scenario features high quality custom leagues, cups, rules, awards and custom graphics (custom made logos and backgrounds). The top 600+ clubs from around the world are included, as well as all 160 playable clubs from England. All clubs compete in a custom UEFA Champions/Europa League; and all teams have a B-team and U19 team.
This is also one of the highest quality and most advanced Super League mods available; written by a software developer, who plays this mod for over 1000 hours every year!
Also, for the first time ever; there is a "travel grant" added to all the leagues for clubs travelling from long distance, such as the South American clubs; which can loose over £10 million per year on travel costs alone. This is an attempt to try and compensate for the large travel costs, especially for smaller clubs in lower leagues. It's not perfect, but it normally covers between 30% and 90% of the travel costs.
What's new?
- 80 new clubs (from 828 to 908).
- Improve the depth and quality of the league structure. (more on this later)
- Try to compensate for large travel costs, which sometimes cost clubs over £10 million per year.
- Rebalance income / prize money.
- Undelete the Copa America for South American players.
- Streamlined league system allows you to go from bottom to top in just 6 seasons.
- Fix issues with B-teams and clubs playing in multiple leagues (as reported in original WSL file).
Please check this page regularly for any further updates!

League Structure
The league structure is designed to provide the maximum challenge for clubs in the Premier League.
This edition has reduced the number of "tiers" (league levels) from 9 levels in the original WSL, back to 6 levels like the official English league structure, which are:
Premier League
Championship
League One
League Two
National
National North/South.
So, although we have 80 more clubs in this edition of the WSL, we fit all 908 clubs into only 6 levels.
There were many technical (and scheduling) challenges to overcome.
What does this mean?
In the base game, there are 160 clubs in the English league system in those 6 levels; so normally when we want to add more clubs, we need to add more levels.
For example, in the original WSL there were 9 levels for 828 clubs, by comparison this file has 908 clubs in 6 levels.
So instead of adding more levels down, we add more divisions at the same level; we normally add 4, 6, 8. 12 or 16 divisions at each level.
By keeping a flat structure with only 6 levels, we make it wider and not deeper ("flat and wide"); we make it much faster to go from the bottom to the top.
Less levels makes it faster to go from bottom level to top level.
But there are many other benefits; such as having 60,000 players available there are plenty of transfer and loan possibilities for all clubs from top to bottom.

Recommended & Compatible mods
- Football Manager 2020 Real Names Licence Fix
- Footbe Logos 2019-20
- FM20 Transfers & Data Update Packs by pr0 + FMTU (ONLY the transfers file)
- Wonderkids 2020 by JG
Make sure that any other mods you add, don't include any League / promotion/relegation changes (because the clubs will be taken out of the WSL league structure). Sometimes authors don't mention club changes, so if you want to try the WSL file with your mod; then simulate to some time in the future before starting your game.
This file is compatible with some other wonderkid and legends databases. But please test it first by simulating a few years (go on holiday for a few years into the future to check if there are no crashes).
* Requires FM 20.4
It might work on older versions, but I haven't tested it on older versions.
Warning: Long startup time
Please note that there is a long intial load time to setup the leagues.
But after setup, it should be faster to process.
Steam Workshop vs. Direct Download
The Steam Workshop allows you to 'subscribe' to the mod, and get regular real-time updates to the main .fmt file.
However, the Steam Workshop doesn't include all the additional graphics; competition logos and background images I've created.
For the best gameplay experience, I suggest you subscribe to the Steam Workshop file to get regular updates to the .fmt file,
but then download the additional .zip file here and extract the graphics into the /graphics/WSL folder !
NOTE: The Direct Download also includes the latest .fmt file for your convenience.
Please check this page every few days for any further updates!
How to Install WSL FM20
Extract files:
Copy the file: `World Super League XE.fmf` to:
C:\Users\[__USERNAME__]\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\editor data
NOTE: .fmf files must be placed directly in the `editor data` folder without sub-folders in `editor data` folder!
Copy the `graphics` folder to:
C:\Users\[__USERNAME__]\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\graphics
The custom graphics are compatible with other logo and background packs! Just make sure my pack is under /graphics/WSL/

Start new career game, select `World Super League XE` from the `Database` Drop down box on top right, then click `Advanced Setup` and select England (Super League 5 should be selected by default).
NB NB NB: Please disable all other custom leagues and database changes in the `Database` Drop down box! This mod has been heavily edited and tested, so other custom databases might break it!

Other nations are NOT necessary, ALL the clubs you need are inside England.

It's normal to see all the other countries are disabled!
If the custom graphics don't show, check the file paths again and then go to `Preferences -> `Reset` (bottom left) -> click `Clear Cache` ... then click `Reload Skin` on the bottom. This can be done anytime during or after starting a new game!

Anyway, thank you so much, literally made an account to say thanks!
I'd love to see more clubs from unusual countries - especially places like North Korea, Iran, etc. I'm not sure how hard it would be to set that up, though, especially with travel costs and so forth. It would be really cool to take a club from Syria or something from the bottom of the table and work them up to the top.
I think that as many clubs, as there are subgroups of the lower level, should be directly descended from the higher category. (4 subgroups would be good) and then to make attractive, and reward those below, that the 4 seconds of each sub-level did a promotion playoff with the 4 of the upper level, and among those 8 teams, 2 places were won Ascent extras, being a total of 6.
I don't know if I explain myself.
This system would be good for Super League 1 and Super League 2.
For the lower, it could well be similar.
And as it happens in lower categories, it would do all the leagues of 24 teams.
Put, for example, 4 more divisions below Super League 5, would allow more teams, and in the presence of more clubs from major leagues such as the Spanish, the German, or the Italian countries, maybe Brazil, Argentina, France plus teams.
Without further ado, thank you artists!
I would have liked to have more Spanish, German and Italian clubs in the league system. I think for future versions, they could add more league levels.
On the other hand, as a suggestion, it would be nice if there was a cup competition system for B and U19 teams, as well as Internationals. (like the Uefa U19 Championships) well, something similar for B teams.
Then I have seen that there is a huge problem in the economy of small clubs, a lot of money is lost in travel, and the subsidies do not compensate anything, to play an FA match, you earn 80% less than what the travel costs you (aprox.). It is not worth spending rounds because the accumulated of what you spend on trips in line with box office income, you are ruined.
In a SAVE in Premier 4 with Logroñés, I have to purposely lose in FA CUP and in EUROPE, because you lose a lot of money on each trip.
It would be good if they implemented an option of more money in subsidies, that this one was given by the Federation of the competition itself, which added to the money of being local made it profitable to be able to compete and pass rounds.
Many thanks, for the work you do, since 2019, that I play your DATA EDITOR, and it is spectacular.
It will take about 1 or 2 months to complete.
I might only release it after the January transfer update (v21.4) has been released.
I havent played it yet. What i think i will not find are national cups / country cups. And i hope you managed to think the times issue you mentionned on V1 !
Please refer to the "Recommended & Compatible mods" section for the compatible transfer file
