Tottenham have confirmed that three more players are set to leave White Hart Lane in the coming days in order for André Villas-Boas to bring in some new talent.
The casualty list includes Golden boot winner and last season's top scorer Roberto Soldado, Icelandic playmaker, Gylfi Sigurðsson and left back, Benoît Assou-Ekotto.
The first who looks set to leave, despite joining last year for a price of £26.5m is Spanish hitman Roberto Soldado. Soldado managed 20 goals last season – the highest in the league; however, AVB feels that a younger and more complete striker should be bought in, and would like to part with the Spanish striker to help free up wages.
Initial interest is thought to be low, with old team Valencia the only reason side to have any major interest. Whispers from inside the club are stating that Tottenham will be willing to part with the striker for just £5m to help raise funds to bring in a new striker, with a replacement already lined up.
Auf Weidersein? Sigurðsson is in talks with German side Borussia Dortmund according to reports
Another who looks set for the exit is Gylfi Sigurðsson. Sigurðsson made a total of 60 League appearances during his time at White Hart Lane, scoring 9 goals – just two more than he managed in 17 appearances for Swansea a few seasons ago.
Reports suggest that Manchester City are close to a deal with Tottenham over the transfer Icelandic midfielder, who were also considering the purchase of team mate Jan Vertonghen. Tottenham have since rejected these claims, with some papers even stating that Manchester City have had a bid of around £11m rejected. It seems as if Tottenham are reluctant to sell to a team who they consider their rivals.
German paper Bild are suggesting that the other team looking at the playmaker is in fact Borussia Dortmund. Dortmund are set to rival Manchester City for Sigurðsson’s signature, and feel that they would be a much more attractive proposition. Bild is reporting that Dortmund have already had a bid of £11.5m accepted and are ready to announce the signing in the coming days.
Benoît Assou-Ekotto is set for a switch to Italy
The final player who is on his way is Tottenham favourite Benoît Assou-Ekotto. The Cameroon international spent the season on loan at QPR, helping guide the club to promotion via the playoffs. Often criticized for his laid back nature, André sees no future for the left back after the impressive performances of both Danny Rose and Ricardo Rodriquez.
Assou-Ekotto Spent 7 years at White Hart Lane, but is ready to switch England for Italy after Tottenham agreed a deal with Italian side Verona for a fee of around £2.5m
