Despite not having the best league run this month, we've managed to hold on to 1st some how, but the pack is chasing, and we're looking over our shoulders with a bit of fear. Good news however, we can't get relegated this season! Woooo xD
Zoggers' old tricks
Otsuki propelled us into an admirable lead twice in this one as he continued his prolific league form, attracting interest from big clubs far and wide. However, a player who's definitely attracting interest for the wrong reasons is Zoggers who miss-interpreted a ball lumped over the top, failing to head it clear and allow Ormson in. Dear dear Zoggers.
Also, I'd like to discuss Zoundi's marvelous run to set up Otsuki for the first goal.
Decent for sure
It takes games like this to give me a reality check sometimes, to remind me we are still little old Wycombe. All our players had stella games in this one, even Zoggers, so as much as I should be disappointed with a draw given our position, against a very good Forest team, I'll take this result and the performance with it.
In the right direction
Oooooh those 'tight' European affairs am I right? Those statistics don't really represent 'tight' do they, we dominated Celta to be honest, and I'm sad we haven't come away with more from our first leg. Notably our captain Ruiz got sent off, what a dipstick.
Another cup triumph
We took another step towards cup progression days on from the Celta game as we moved past Leicester into the 6th round of the FA cup. Krasniqi bagged 2 late on to save us the fatigue of a replay, Otsuki didn't start, so no goals for him, still got an assist off the bench though.
Barely through
Bloomin eck! It all kicked off late into this game didn't it? After Holden gave the hosts an equalizer it came down to Diallo to get us a crucial away goal which ultimately secured us a tie against Shalke in the next round, won't be easy.
That's more like it!
Finally a bit of clinic nature creeps into our play as we finish beautifully to win comfortably. Diallo scored 2 in 2 now, an unprecedented record for him this season, of course, Otsuki and Zoundi ran the show as usual, they just cannot be stopped, it's unbelievable.
Holding on
We keep on battling to claim the Premier League title, it appears to have fragmented into a true 3 horse rate, us, Chesterfield and Colchester all battling for the Premier League, bet no-one's ever said that before. It's incredible that we've only lost 1 game all season, whereas our competition has lost 5 or 6.
Player of the Month
Nope, I'm sorry, I just can't get past this guy, when he's not scoring, he's assisting, the man just hasn't stopped since he returned from the Asian Cup. I'd like to remind you all this lad came on a free, all we had to do was stump up some higher wages. Kenji Otsuki, you'll be hard to keep hold of in summer won't you.
Flop of the Month
It was a battle of the centre backs this month for Flop of the Month, we have Zoggers who allowed Ormson to score for Plymouth, Holden who put it in his own net against Celta, and Ruiz who got himself sent off. I'm going to give it to Holden this month because Zoggers did a very good job at holding on against Celta in that second European leg.
Attracting interest
Before I go, and before I show you the upcoming fixtures, I just thought I should show you this tremendous screenshot of my first eleven, let me know if you spot a common theme throughout.
As for the upcoming fixtures, I expect 6 points from 6 in the league fixtures, and progression past Fulham in the cup, the stumbling block could be the tie against Shalke, which is going to be very difficult.
Thank-you for reading, all comments will be reciprocated,
This was such a great month, continuing our domination of the league as well as fighting it out in multiple competitions, it's a tough life being really good at football isn't it. The lads have truly gone up a level this month though, some damn good goals to be seen too.
Sainrimat!
This was a fantastic game to demonstrate our prowess as league leaders, starting Sainrimat up top he delivered with a lovely goal to mark his first of many hopefully for the MIGHTY DUCKS. Ofcourse, Otsuki grabbed 2 as he continued to be our talisman!
Goals Galore
What a game! Against a huge opposition we managed to grab 3 goals, Diallo popping up with 2 goals, unprecedented for him this season, proving he can still contribute going forward. The 3 away goals should really help for the second game. Interestingly, we can't seem to stop scoring at the moment.
Battling through
We played a weakened side here to rest up for the 2nd leg against Schalke, and we managed to squeeze a win thanks to a lovely Lawson goal, warranting him further consideration throughout the rest of the month. He's really starting to prove himself in the chances he gets.
De Ja Vu
If it wasn't for a 15 minute spell of power between 30 minutes and 45 minutes for Schalke 04 this would have been a walkover, but we showed such spirit to come back from 3-1 down to make it level, survive extra time, and win on penalties. Zoundi had an absolute stormer, scoring the 2 goals to level us up, taking the team on his back and pushing us into the next round.
Dominant
The lads played very well here, should have been 3 after Otsuki missed a penalty, a rare goal from Daouda, and another from Lawson, showing signs that he'll be able to make the step up soon, but why would I replace Zoundi in his current form?!?!?
Almost comfy
Look at us! We're so high right now! It's actually unbelievable how comfortable we are right now, 4 points clear from 2nd with a game in hand, we can practically taste the league title, of course, we have to HUGE games to get past first, and we're still on for some sort of treble, how crazy would that be?!?!
Player of the Month
In my opinion this lads been top quality this month, really proving he's got what it takes to be a positive impact substitute and maybe even a starter for us in the future. As a small rotation/ future signing at the start of the year, he's definitely going out to prove himself late on into this season.
Flop of the Lot
This lad has been a stalwart for us up until this month, where I've gone and rested him a few times due to poor form and to be honest, he's been the one downside in an other wise very strong side for this month. I hyped him as one of my best signings this summer but Franceschi you're letting me down.
Big big games
April, probably the defining month of our season, such a huge amount of games, so many big battles ahead. We have to battle through and keep this top spot now, we've been here so long, I don't want to lose it.
In what has been one of the oddest months I've played in FM for a long time, I've lost a lot of hope for the Premier League. I guess you'll have to see why won't you.
Anyway, in the mean time between the last update and this one, something amazing happened which I've never had happen to me before on FM. Made me rather proud to be honest.
Oh noes...
I don't care where Man City end up this season, they're a damn good team, and very very hard to beat, I seem to remember there manager getting sacked early on this season, so they probably had a bad start, but they played well against us and took their chances which we definitely didn't.
Fizzling out
I do love it when a top of the table clash of titans fizzles out into a 0-0 cagey affair. Well, that's what happened here, I'm not complaining, though I would have loved a last minute winner, perhaps we're saving them for later (foreshadowing).
Clawing it back
After opening half an hour I thought this was going to be a lot worse than it eventually was. Fortunately, we showed great spirit to drag ourselves back into this one and take away a point, looking at the stats though, we should have taken all 3. Our 3rd game without a win, a tad worrying considering we're in the middle of a title run in. I went 2 up top in this game and Ibrahim had a stormer, setting both goals up.
Good start
This was such an uneventful and weird game, we ended up getting 3 penalties, yes, 3! Otsuki scored all 3 in the top right corner, great composure from the lad, but aside from that, not very much went on this game, to be honest it felt like a Manchester United game.
Obey the Lawson
My main man Lawson stepped up for this one, getting the nod over Diallo who hadn't really got the x factor recently, and boy did Lawson prove he had, in a dominant game this kid was the difference and it really is giving me faith in him for the upcoming years.
The squeakiest of bums
What a tale our Europa Cup story is becoming, better than Liverpool's any day, going through on penalties against Schalke 04, and winning 6-5 on aggregate in one of the most epic games I've been in for a while, complete contrast to the other one. Some spectacular goals too, the plaudits go to Gouffran though for this thunderbolt.
FERGIE TIME
Okay, yes, I know the goal didn't technically come in time added on, but this literally made me jump up and down and run around the room! This game was so tight, there was barely any key chances for either side, I was terrified to make a change. Then, up stepped Ibrahim with an absolute screamer, it reminded me of Cantona to be honest.
Cracking stuff
With so many games to go we've all but secured the league! It appears as we stumble, so do the other clubs but harder, technically Spurs are our biggest rivals remaining now, 8 points clear with a total of 15 to earn. Oooooh it's getting exciting! Also, look at how far Colchester have fallen, they lost 4-0 to Forest recently too!
Player of the Month
In a month of hat tricks, goal fests and beautiful finishes, it's been hard to choose between the attacking options it has to be said, they've been monstrous this month! However, I think I have to decide which attacking performance has been the most valuable, and it has to be Ibrahim for that stunning strike, if I was a kid watching Wycombe, it'd be so happy to know that goal put us in an FA Cup final.
Flop of the Lot
We've struggled in the ball winning department of late, both of our options have no been up to scratch, of course, Daouda has to take the slack for the most of it though, as he is first choice, but his performances really haven't been up to scratch, may need more experienced competition for him.
Title fight coverage
You have no idea how much I'd like to do a commentary style run in of our final games, however, I don't have the facilities to do so right now, nor the time unfortunately, however, I'm giving myself a buffer to come up with something clever to do by only doing a few fixtures in the next update. Got to build up that tension you see.
Of course, we could have won it by the end of those games, in which case I'm screwed for time, oh well, we shall see.
Oh dear oh dear, who knew that 3 little games could instill such fear in me, I'm literally on the seat of my pants right now, fearing the worst for us, we could just throw this away. Our form has dropped and I can't figure out what's wrong, troubling times.
It'll do
All started well it has to be said, even though this was far from a perfect performance, we just lacked any real finesse to be honest, everything seemed very last ditch and reckless. Fortunately we ran out winners, but every games a must win right now.
Oh no
This was our chance to win the league! We could've taken it home on this very day, but instead we were demolished by our closest rivals and things are really starting to look tough. We didn't have a single shot in the opening 30 minutes and it appears to me Zoundi is beginning to slow down for the end of the season already.
WHAT ARE YOU DOING
For this game I have no words, literally none. Just a little FYI because you can't see on the image, both Daouda and Franceschi got sent off, bloody Daouda's was for an off the ball challenge as well, like literally, what was he doing? If it wasn't for Ibrahim we would have been dead and buried in this game, god I'm worried about this season now.
The table
Oooooh the table, the most fearsome it's ever looked, if we slip into 2nd my god I'm going to go down the SI and beat the daylight out of whoever is responsible for this end of season lackadaisical attitude. Right now Spurs are unstoppable, so I have no hope in them dropping points.
Time to crash and burn
Here we go, here's the fixtures, the FA cup tie against Chelsea is penciled in, and I'm confirming now, I will play a rested squad in the first leg for the Europa league, because I need that win against Chesterfield.
