Hailing the Star

Former Bayern Munich manager Antonio Conte has hailed his former club's star striker Ademilson after the Brazilian bagged a brace against Werder Bremen to help Die Bayern to a 3-0 win.

The 26-year-old took his tally in the league so far to 28 goals in 26 games, and looks set to win his second consecutive Bundesliga Golden Boot.

Currently the manager of Barcelona, Conte is a fan favorite at the Allianz Arena after his spell in charge of the Bayern squad from June 2015 to December 2016. The Italian boss secured a continential treble of the DFL Super Cup, the Bundesliga league title, as well as the Champions League in his first and final full season.

He was eventually snapped up by Barcelona six months later but remains a keen follower of German football and Bayern Munich, and Conte has stated that he is "amazed at Ademilson's style of play".

"I love Ademilson's style of play, and I am always amazed at the amount of goals he scores. He's like the second coming of Leo (Lionel Messi), except, well, Leo's from Argentina.

"I would personally love to have him at Barcelona but I don't think Bayern and David (Beckham) would be too keen!"

Ademilson, nicknamed 'Die Biest', German for 'The Beast', by Die Bayern fans for his goalscoring exploits, was brought to the Munich for 48 million in January 2018, one of David Beckham's first signings for the club.

"Die Biest is a nickname that suits Ademilson very well," Conte added. "He was among the top three for the Ballon d'Or and the World Player of the Year award in January.

"I think he can win it next year. He is just such a perfect football player, and I think he rightfully deserves it if he can keep up his current form."

Defending the Crown

Bayern Munich have been confirmed as defending champions of this season's Bundesliga title, with 8 games left until the end of the season.

It's a magnificent achievement for the Munich club, who have been excellent all season with 24 wins and 2 draws in 26 league games played.

This hands them 74 points, more than 20 points clear at the top of the table, and their title was eventually confirmed when Borussia Dortmund lost 1-0 to Schalke.

"To be able to win the league title again is fantastic," said manager David Beckham. "And to win it like we did is simply brilliant. No losses in the league so far... 20 points ahead of the rest... it shows just how much Bayern have improved as a squad."

Captain Toni Kroos spoke to bild.de, saying, "The season has been terrific and to win the title for the second time in a row is great. But it doesn't mean we're going to be sitting back now, because we are still going to treat it as a normal, competitive season until our final game."

Title is done. Now to finish undefeated. Just 12 goals conceded gives a good indication whether you can or cannot do it.

Champions League Quarter Final Draw 2020

The Champions League Quarter Final draws have been complete, with the eight remaining teams in Europe's top competition facing each other.

The drawing was done by former Barcelona captain and legend Carles Puyol.

Liverpool and Aston Villa were the first two teams drawn out of the hat. Liverpool are competing in their first Champions League tournament since 2009, and the Reds have done well so far, breezing past their group and beating Scottish champions Celtic in the First Knockout Round.

Aston Villa thrashed Dutch club FC Twente to advance and both sides are familiar with each other, with Liverpool and Villa clashing regularly in the Premier League on a regular basis. Both squads are rather evenly matched and it will be interesting to see which one of the clubs pull off a victory.

The next draw featured another all-English team, with Champions League holders Arsenal squaring off against Manchester United.

While Arsenal had it easy against the likes of Galatasaray, whom they crushed in the First Knockout Round, Manchester United faced in-form Schalke, and barely managed to scrape a win against the German giants.

Gunners manager Mauricio Pochettino has won plenty in his 4 years as manager of the North London side, but something he has frequently failed to conquer is Manchester United and his counterpart at Old Trafford, Jose Mourinho. The two head coaches also share a mutual dislike of one another and their reputable feud will make this fixutre all the more interesting.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid featured in a mouthwatering draw. Real Madrid overcame Sampdoria in the First Knockout Round, while Bayern Munich defeated Real's rivals Atletico Madrid.

Bayern, currently unbeatable in 28 Bundesliga league games, have confirmed their league title following Dortmund's loss against Schalke earlier this month. Under David Beckham, Die Bayern have been a dominant force, working their way back up the ranks of Europe's top clubs after Rafa Benitez kicked them down low with his poor performances as manager.

Real are in a more unfortunate situation. Only 19 wins in 30 La Liga games haven't helped their title bid and they sit in 3rd place in the Spanish league, under Barcelona and Atletico. However, their world class squad is not to be underestimated. The likes of Raphael Varane and Mateo Kovacic can cause troubles for any side - even a side sitting 25 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

The last two of the eight clubs drawn together were Barcelona and Zenit. Currently the league leaders in their respective national leagues, the two giants will relish the opportunity to play against each other.

Both teams were given tough tasks in their First Knockout Round fixtures, with Barcelona playing Borussia Dortmund and Zenit going up against oil-rich Paris Saint-Germain. However, after a shaky first leg where they lost 1-0, Barca hit back to win 3-0 at the Nou Camp. Meanwhile, Zenit shocked footballing fans around the globe as they managed to thrash PSG 6-3 on aggregate.

Although Barcelona is deemed as the obvious favorite, Zenit boasts a squad that includes Hulk and Axel Witsel, who are fan favorites after their long years serving the Russian champions. Age has not ceased their importance for Zenit and both Hulk and Witsel will be vital players if Zenit want to get past Barca.

All in all, there are going to be some amazing Quarter Final matches on display, all to be savored by fans of the beautiful game.

Who will beat who? Who will advance to the Semi Finals of this year's UEFA Champions League?

The mighty Galacticos!

Starting the Fire

Real Madrid manager Roberto Mancini has put down his Bayern Munich counterpart David Beckham, in a pre-match press conference before the Champions League Quarter Finals, which will pit his Real team against Bayern.

When quizzed about Beckham, Mancini told assembled journalists, "I'm not a fan of David Beckham, not at all. I personally think he's terrible at what he does."

Beckham's Bayern Munich side beat Real Madrid in last year's Champions League when they faced each other in the First Knockout Round.

"David Beckham thinks he's the best manager out there just because he's won a few things in England. He has not won the Premier League yet. If he has not won the Premier League, he is not a good manager.

"Alright, so he's achieved a bit at Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga is not competitive. We will show him what competitive football means when we take him and Bayern Munich down tomorrow."

Mancini's comments have angered various football fans, especially fans of Bayern Munich.

Despite the outrage at the Italian's comments, Beckham refused to dwell much on Mancini.

"Roberto Mancini is starting a fire, but I have no plans on fueling it," said the 44-year-old. "That will only be giving him the attention he craves."

Mancini's comments will certainly only add excitement to the atmosphere for the game tomorrow.

The former Manchester City boss joined Real in the summer of 2014 and in his 6 years at the Bernabeu, has won 3 La Liga titles.
