The Hawks - Dare To Dream

Hello, pompeyblue back again with a brand new story here on FMScout, for Football Manager 2015. Following the success of my Pompey story on FM14, I am delighted to be bringing you another adventure of excitement (at least I hope it will be), on this year’s edition of the game.

As you may be able to tell, I won’t be revealing the team I have chosen to take charge of just yet, however I can say that I will once again be undertaking my managerial venture in England.

I will be trying my hardest to keep this story running for a long time, it will have to be going for a fairly long period with the challenge ahead, but I do know this will be quite difficult for me due to school work obviously taking priority.

That means that sometimes I may not be releasing updates as regularly as I should be, so I apologize in advance, however, I always do pride myself on writing updates to a good standard that will be enjoyed, so I don’t want to be rushing any posts especially with limited time.

Enough of the boring stuff, shall we crack on?!


I feel bad, I really do, but as with the team, I will not yet be revealing which manager personal I have chosen to take up. Don’t worry, in due time you will find out which man will take centre stage in this story, just stay tuned for future updates.

Football management, an enthralling experience, a job like no other.

There is pressure, the hardships, but if you’re good enough, there’s the glory and the sweet victories too which make it all worth it. Some people think it’s easy, the ‘armchair’ managers - they don’t know the half of it. How would I know? I was a manager. You don’t believe me? I told you I was, but I gave it all up.

Now here I am, sitting at home, ironically in my armchair with nothing to do but to think back to yesteryears. The good old days. Well, mostly good days anyway. There were the bad times of course, the losses, the poor performances and eventually the day which ended my managerial career entirely. We’ll go back to that later.

For now, let’s just talk about a game I have forever been attached with - football. From a young boy I was always kicking a ball about, playing right the way up the ages, before I departed for the army. It was a great thing to be part of, the military, but just didn’t compare to me signing on for a professional football club. Or playing professional football, for that matter.

As my playing days came ever closer to an end though, I realised management would be the next step for me. I had picked up plenty of tips throughout my career, and felt that I had the skills to lead a team to glory, in due time.

So I guess, that’s where our journey really begins. 2014, where the success really started to roll in, where it all just clicked. Hold on tight, this is quite a long tale, and there’s plenty to get through...

Former England and Liverpool striker Michael Owen has admitted that he may look towards non-league football, as he bids to get back into the game, with a management role.

Owen, 34, had been working as a commentator ever since calling an end to his playing days in 2013. However, last week he remarkably quit his job at BT Sport, stating that his passion for football couldn’t be held in any longer and that he had a desire to become a manager in the near future.

Capped on 89 occasions for England and having scored 40 times, Owen obviously has a high pedigree in the game, especially since he played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe too. He began his career with 5 times Champions League winners Liverpool, moving onto Real Madrid and later Manchester United.

However, this does not necessarily mean he will easily earn a job as manager with his lack of experience in the position something which will most likely put clubs off. Owen has hit back though, saying he has no qualms whatsoever in having to work his way up the leagues, even if that means beginning right at the bottom – even out of the Football League.

” I don’t want clubs to read my name and hire me on the spot because of the player I was, I want to earn a reputation as a boss the right way: though impressive work on the touchline. If that means starting in non-league, fine. That’s a challenge right there, and one that interests me greatly. Any club that gives me the opportunity, I will be grateful.”

With a whole host of sides in search of a new manager, for the upcoming 2014/15 season, it’s anyone’s bet where Owen is heading? He may not even make the grade as a manager, it’s just a case of who is willing to take a gamble on an untried, untested manager?
