Phil Jones: The Captain

Tottenham defender Phil Jones has been announced as England captain, taking over from Wayne Rooney.

Coincidentally, the 28-year-old's first game as official England captain will be his 100th cap for the Three Lions.

Jones' international debut came against Montenegro in 2011 and 9 years after celebrating the kicking-off of his international career, he will now be celebrating 100 caps for his country, a massive achievement for any player.

To reach 100 caps at the mere age of 28 is remarkable for anyone and Jones is expected to win many, many more.

The England veteran has also featured in three European Championships and two World Cup tournaments.

"It's a really big deal to reach 100 caps for the best national side in the world," said Jones in an interview with Sky Sports. "And to be announced as captain just before my 100th cap is amazing. David really surprised me with it."

Jones also hit out at his former teammate Andy Carroll after the Stoke City striker announced his international retirement just a few days ago.

"Andy is a good guy, a good player for England, but the way he talked about David was very disrespectful. David is the boss, and he shouldn't be questioned for his selections."

Jones started his career at Blackburn, breaking into the first team in 2009 and making 26 appearances in the Premier League in the 2010-11 season. But his career at Ewood Park was not to be prolonged as he joined English giants Manchester United in 2011.

He became a very important player for United as he made 191 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils over 7 years. However, after a bust-up with manager Jose Mourinho, Jones left to join Tottenham in 2018, to the dismay of many United fans, who had grown to love the player after his long service to the club.

Currently, he serves as Spurs vice-captain and is an important player for the North London club, having made 90 league appearances over three years. His trophy haul at the Hoddle Arena consists of two FA Cups and one Capital One Cup. In spite of it being vastly inferior to his relatively bigger amount of competition wins at Manchester United, Jones has insisted he is very happy at Tottenham.

The newly-appointed England captain will be a vital player in the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers, and also the World Cup 2022 that'll take place in Qatar.
I remember when you did an update that said how he left United and went to Spurs and I was thinking how stupid FM is for that haha still think that but a great update on him :P

Was thinking the same thing! Chose Spurs over Bayern Munich - what a genius!

Pre-Season 2020/21

It was a busy pre-season for Bayern Munich as they contested 9 friendlies and the DFL Super Cup. The Bayern boys also went on a pre-season tour to South Korea, which was relatively successful with the club having a growing fanbase in Asia.

Who Impressed

Arno Gerritsen kept goal in a couple of friendlies this month and the Dutch youngster has been very impressive. Currently 17 years of age, he has already shown the potential to be a better goalkeeper than Manuel Neuer and is set to take Seyhmus Seckin's spot on the bench for backup to Neuer this season.
A new leader. I would have thought Jack Wilshere was to be the future captain
looking forward to the season :)
And that's prize number one of the season :) but losing against the two lesser teams of all the teams you played friendlies against. Good luck with the start of the season!
Paddy: Strangely enough, Phil Jones was better suited to be the captain according to FM13 :P

Inq: Me too, actually!

Randy: You should know that I left Delemont to my assistant and FK Austria to my assistant as well, and the match against FK Austria was played with 3/4 of my first team away on internationals :P

On a side note, 90000 views! Thanks guys :) Onwards and upwards to 100k!
nice pre-season Glenn. Keep it up.

Wellsy: Cheers :)

3. Win all cups 100% wins: You get £1/2 billion an orange
4. Do two of the above in any combination: you win £100 billion A can of tuna
5. First three objectives: You win A lifetime supply of money A pair of socks, and a picture of Ron Weasley.
