Beckham: Staying at Villa
Aston Villa boss David Beckham has hit out at suggestions that he would be jumping ship to Blackburn or Southampton. With the Southampton and Blackburn jobs both available, both clubs' chairmen are said to be very interested in appointing the England legend as manager.
Despite being a rookie in management Beckham has successfully steered Aston Villa clear of the relegation places in recent years.
The Villans finished 8th last season and are currently 13th in the table after 14 games.
"I am not interested in moving to Southampton or Blackburn," said Beckham in an interview with the Telegraph. "I am fully committed to my job at Aston Villa and have no time to entertain such nonsense.
"The only way Aston Villa is moving is the way up. Why would I want to move to another club at this time?
"Managing Villa has been a great experience for me and I am not ready to end that experience yet. Fergie managed Manchester United for more than 25 years.
"Of course, I am not saying I will be here for 25 years, but in football, never say never."
