Europa League Final 2016

Aston Villa have won the Europa League after beating Chelsea 2-1 with goals from Adam Campbell and Mattheus.

Villa were undeniably the better side the entire 90 minutes, having much more possession and shots on target than the Blues, who are currently top of the Premier League by 1 point with 1 game remaining to play.

The first goal came courtesy of Campbell who was played in brilliantly by Will Hughes. Petr Cech was fantastic on the night, having to keep out many shots, but Campbell's finish was impossible to save.

Mattheus dealt extra damage as he got free of any defenders to put one past Cech.

Andi Weimann, who joined Chelsea this summer from Scottish champions Celtic, pulled one back against his former club but it was too little, too late as David Beckham's side began celebrating at the final whistle, with Beckham himself and his coaches running onto the pitch to celebrate with the players.

What a remarkable win for Aston Villa.

Winners of the Europa League

Hours after the win against Chelsea in the Europa League Final, we were finally able to talk and interview the Aston Villa men.

Goalscorers Adam Campbell and Mattheus were two of those stopped for an interview.

"It's a huge delight," said Campbell, who came on as a substitute for the misfiring Carlos Fierro. "To be able to come on to score a crucial goal for your team in the Europa League Final... it can't be described, but it's a brilliant feeling."

Mattheus, who also came on as a substitute in the Final for Will Hughes, said something similar.

"The Europa League is a very prestigious competition and I have always watched it as a boy when it was the UEFA Cup. I never imagined I would score in one of it's Finals, but I've done it, especially for a club I love, Aston Villa. It feels great."

Villa manager David Beckham has also been praised by prominent Villa supporter and Leamington boss Jason Lippitt. Lippitt, who had recently led his Brakes team into the Blue Square Premier from the Blue Square North, has stated his opinion that it was all due to Beckham that the club had gotten so far.

"David is proving himself to be quite the tactician," said Lippitt. "I have seen him at Aston Villa and I have to say his man management of the players also play a part. There is no other manager like David. Villa owe much of their success to him."

The Double

Aston Villa have celebrated a double, having won the Capital One Cup now coupled with the Europa League.

The Villans lifted the Capital One Cup after beating Norwich 4-2 back in February.

The double was completed as they fought a battle against Chelsea to claim their first ever Europa League trophy.

Aston Villa captain Ciaran Clark said of the achievement, "We have had a fantastic season and the double is recognition of our efforts."

The Ireland international also boldly claims, "Next season, we will aim to win the treble."

However, it has indeed been a remarkable season for David Beckham and his men...
Congrats on winning the double. It is great to see trophies coming your way. How long until the Premier League trophy enters your cabinet?

;) Thanks Chris!
Glenn, what role do you play Fierro? I have signed him on my Middlesbrough story and I just want to know how to get the best out of him.
Neymar? :P
I only just realised you got Nagatomooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Sometimes a Treq, and sometimes a DLF, but I think he works best as poacher. To be honest, he's not THAT good yet, he's only got around 13-14 goals in the league, only got 31 goals in all comps because I got far in all comps, except the FA Cup :P

What about him?

And he's keeping Andrew Black out of the team, quality RB/LB :)
I bet you're eyeing the CL title next. Congratulations on the win, and I'm sure Ciaran Clark is right about that treble next season. ;)
