Winners of the Europa League
Hours after the win against Chelsea in the Europa League Final, we were finally able to talk and interview the Aston Villa men.
Goalscorers
Adam Campbell and
Mattheus were two of those stopped for an interview.
"It's a huge delight," said Campbell, who came on as a substitute for the misfiring
Carlos Fierro. "To be able to come on to score a crucial goal for your team in the Europa League Final... it can't be described, but it's a brilliant feeling."
Mattheus, who also came on as a substitute in the Final for
Will Hughes, said something similar.
"The Europa League is a very prestigious competition and I have always watched it as a boy when it was the UEFA Cup. I never imagined I would score in one of it's Finals, but I've done it, especially for a club I love, Aston Villa. It feels great."
Villa manager
David Beckham has also been praised by prominent Villa supporter and Leamington boss
Jason Lippitt. Lippitt, who had recently led his Brakes team into the Blue Square Premier from the Blue Square North, has stated his opinion that it was all due to Beckham that the club had gotten so far.
"David is proving himself to be quite the tactician," said Lippitt. "I have seen him at Aston Villa and I have to say his man management of the players also play a part. There is no other manager like David. Villa owe much of their success to him."
