An End to Rumors

Aston Villa midfielder Will Hughes has ended speculation linking him to Chelsea by penning a new five-year contract with Villa.

This is the 22-year-old's fifth summer at Villa Park and his four-year stay at the club is now set to continue.

The Derby youth product's previous contract expired at the end of the season and it looked like he would be pushing for a move to Chelsea, who finished one place below Aston Villa in 13th last season under Markus Babbel. However, Hughes has now put an end to that speculation.

His new contract will see him jump from earning slightly below 20,000 per week at Villa to getting 50,000 per week.

"I'm very happy," Hughes admitted. "I have been here for four years and I've loved every moment. We won the treble last season and I want to continue winning trophies with Aston Villa. I'm glad David has presented me with the opportunity to prolong my stay."

Stepping Up

Fabian Delph will replace Ron Vlaar as vice-captain of Aston Villa, the club have confirmed on their official website and Twitter.

The 32-year-old Holland international has been in and out of the side and David Beckham has confirmed that the veteran defender himself requested that he be replaced as vice-captain.

This will be Delph's 9th season at Aston Villa, and the 27-year-old has finally gotten the chance to hold a leadership role at the club, something he is relishing.

"I'm happy that the gaffer is trusting me with such a role. Ron was fantastic as vice-captain and I hope I can emulate him and hopefully be even better."

The former Leeds midfielder has been a revelation at Villa Park since the arrival of Beckham in the summer of 2012, and has made 172 Premier League appearances in the kit of the Lions, and interestingly, 146 of those appearances were made under the management of Beckham.
Great news that you managed to keep hold of Will Hughes, especially with Chelsea and their money interested.

Asian Power

Aston Villa have recruited 22-year-old Japanese international Hayato Mochizuki into their ranks. The midfielder joins from Udinese in a 6 million deal.

Mochizuki joined Udinese in 2015 from hometown club Ballena Shizuoka, and made 44 appearances in Serie A over a period of two seasons, and also knows Villa full-back Yuto Nagatomo from their time in the Japan national team, and the former Internazionale man will be key in helping his younger compatriot settle in.

"My time at Udinese was great but I hope I can do better here in England with Aston Villa," said Mochizuki, in his native Japanese, talking to English media through a translator. "David Beckham is recognized and admired by everyone back in Japan and I cannot wait to work with him, and I am happy to have been handed this opportunity."

Mochizuki will take the number 14, last won by Gary Gardner who is now at Wigan, and is expected to play a role in the first-team this season.
That guys seems a beast, hope he does well for you :)

July and August: After the Treble

Pre-season was brilliant, but Aston Villa's start to the official season was certainly not, although they can take pride that they played well in both games against Manchester City and Everton. However, David Beckham's side are still hunting for their first points in the Premier League 2017/18 and hopefully they will come soon.

Congratulations on the Community Shield win. Hopefully the first trophy of many this season! :)

Unfortunate start to the league campaign but I'm more than confident you can pick it up.
