Season Nine: February Update

This was a massive month for us, with a big FA Cup game against Derby County, and a Capital One Cup final against Arsenal. We already know the result of the final, but how did we fair during the rest of the month?

Results

We started off the month with a thrilling 3-2 victory over West Brom before hosting Derby County in the FA Cup 5th round. We ran out 2-0 winners, thanks to a brace from Joe Mason. Next up was the Capital One Cup final against Arsenal, where we came out as shock 2-0 winners, with captain Euan Smith scoring both goals. We then appeared to have a cup final hangover as we lost to both Forest and Everton. I'm delighted to have won a trophy and progressed to the 1/4 finals of the FA Cup. Hopefully we can keep going on strong.

Player of the Month

Euan Smith is undoubtedly my player of the month for February. Could I possibly give the award to anybody else after his unbelievable cup final heroics? His goal scoring ethics have been fantastic, and we would be lost without him. If I could define Euan Smith with just three words, these are what they would be: CAPTAIN, HERO, LEGEND.

Barclays Premier League

We have slipped down a place to 11th in the league. However, we are still ten points away from the relegation zone with just nine games left to play. I think that we are pretty safe right now, but we will keep pushing forward to finish higher up the table.

March Fixtures

We have just three games next month. We start with an away trip to Manchester United in the FA Cup quarter finals, where we will be trying our best to sneak a win, or even a replay at worst. We then play Fulham at home in what will be a newly unveiled 12.5k seater Vauxhall Stadium. We finish the month with an away trip to Arsenal, who will be looking for revenge after we embarrassed them at Wembley.

The Expansion Complete

Vauxhall Motors Football Club earlier today confirmed that the expansion on their stadium, the Vauxhall Stadium, is now complete. The expansion work had lasted over ten months and has increased the seating capacity by 5,683 seats. This brings the total capacity of the Vauxhall Stadium to exactly 12,500 seats, which passes Barclays Premier League regulations.

The Vauxhall board are said to be delighted that the work is finally over and that they will enjoy the unveiling of the newly refurbished stadium in Vauxhall's Premier League clash against Fulham on Saturday the 13th. The fans have also shown their delight and enthusiasm over the stadium and many have taken part in stadium tours, which will help the fans gain a better understanding of the behind-the-scenes work done before, during and after every match.

The Vauxhall board have also announced that they will further expand the seating capacity again during the summer by 1,134 seats, which will bring the total capacity to 13,634 seats. The plans for this expansion will have to be approved by the local council first, but they look very likely to go ahead. The estimated cost of this is somewhere in the region of £1,500,000. Vauxhall chairman James Talbut is confident that the money invested in to the stadium will be paid back through the passion of the fans.

Season Nine: March Update

Last month was a fantastic month for Vauxhall Motors, progressing to the 1/4 finals of the FA Cup, and not to forget winning the Capital One Cup for the first time. With safety from relegation all but guaranteed, Vauxhall were playing for pride.

Results

We started the month with an FA Cup quarter final at Old Trafford, where Man Utd proved that they really are the best team in the world with a comfortable win over us. We then went back to league football once again, where Gary Gardner starred in a 2-0 win over Fulham. We then went to the Emirates to play Arsenal for the first time since we embarrassed them at Wembley, and they got their revenge with a 3-0 win over us. I can't say I'm too disappointed with this month, as we lost to much better teams who deserved their wins. I'm glad we beat Fulham, which shows we can really go places in the Premier League.

Barclays Premier League

10th place seems to be our spot for this season as we remain there for another month. With just seven games to go, we only need a few more points to officially guarantee our survival, but I do believe that it is safe to say we have survived in the Premier League this season. I'm delighted with that, and the fact that we have European football next season. Next season will certainly be an interesting one!

Vauxhall News

Our training facilities will be getting a nice upgrade this summer and this well help the development of our players, aswell as attracting more players to play for the club. Hopefully we can keep improving like this and perhaps one day become the greatest club in the world.

April Fixtures

We have four games next month, all in the league. Our two main challenges are Man City and Newcastle, two English giants. Wigan and Hull will also be tough, as they are mid-table quality. Hopefully we can claim some points this month.

Hewson puts pen to paper on four year deal

Vauxhall Motors' manager Paul Hewson earlier today signed an extension on his contract which will keep him at the club until 2025. Hewson's previous contract had only just one more year left before it expired. With rumours of the Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, planning to retire after this season and Hewson being linked with the job, Vauxhall Motors chairman James Talbut was quick to offer his club's finest ever gaffer a contract extension.

The contract is rumoured to be worth an estimated 6.5 million pounds, over one million pounds per year, and many bonuses included. James Talbut is said to be delighted that Paul Hewson has signed on for an extension, and he cannot wait for a glorious future for the club. This contract will take Hewson to thirteen years of managing Vauxhall Motors, a very impressive tally.

Paul Hewson: "This club is home for me, and always has been. When James called me to his office and offered me a contract extension, I didn't even have to think about my choice. For me, there is only ever one choice and that is to stay with Vauxhall, through thick and thin. I feel like Vauxhall is almost my second wife now, and I will treat it like my wife, except for intimacy!"

Wow Hewson is leading a great charge for Vauxhall! Maybe a good month of results and the Motors can sneak in to the top 8??

Hewson: Vauxhall struggling with youth intake

Paul Hewson: "Our youth intake in recent years has not been great at all. We haven't been able to bring in players with the potential to be first team players for us. I think the last player who came in to the squad from our youths was Lloyd Carlisle, but even he ended up not being able to fit in. We just haven't been able to bring in quality youth players.

The reason for this is quite simple actually. Unfortunately for us, there are some fantastic football teams near us such as Manchester United, Liverpool, Manchester City and Everton. So when top quality youngsters get the opportunity to go on trials at a professional club, they are going to choose a big club like Liverpool, Man Utd, etc. It is natural for top players to want to play for top clubs.

I do think that the situation is improving for us, however. Over the eight and a half years I've been here, our reputation and the club as a whole has improved tremendously. We are now in the best league in the world, we have European football next season, and we are challenging for cup competitions. What youngster doesn't want that? Over the next couple of seasons, you will see a dramatic improvement in our youth intake, I can promise you all that!"
