Rest Days
Written by JusticeRest days are vital for footballers to recover from high-intensity energy-draining work. In FM, you get the option for your team to rest before or/and rafter a match, or you can rest specific players for a set period of time, whether that be for a day or longer. Rest days are not to be overlooked as they do assist with keeping your squad fresh. My advice would be to implement them wisely to keep your squad in tip-top condition.
By going to your Team Training page, you see pre-match and post-match rest day options. Personally, I would advise that you always allow your team a rest day after each match. This will see your players' condition recover to a stable level before they return to full training. If you do not allow your squad this rest day, your players will certainly not be near having good energy levels when they return to training, which is not ideal as it could lead to injury and will not see them develop as well.
If you have a large set of games in a short space of time, such as is experienced during December in the English Premier Division, you may wish to consider allowing your team a rest day before matches too. This will see the players' condition rise higher and while they will not experience the benefits of training, they will be more capable of playing a full ninety minutes twice or three times a week.
If you find that there are a few individuals whose condition levels are particularly worrying, a day or two's rest for each individual may be ideal. By going to each player's individual page, you can access individual rest options in the Development drop-down box. Tired players won't develop as well and are more prone to injury so make sure you rest your tired players! If a player ever becomes jaded, they are in serious need of rest. I would suggest at least a whole week's rest for that player to allow him to recuperate fully so he can develop and play at his best levels once more.
