Team Training Focus

Written by Justice

What is the most important aspect for your team focus on? In the Team Training page, you have seven options for your team to focus on; Balanced, Fitness, Tactical, Ball Control, Defending, Attacking, Team Cohesion. But what do they help your team focus on?

Balanced: This will see your team have a balanced approach to training and not have a true focus on any of the other six aspects. Your team will focus on each aspect equally, this is a very standard approach if you are unsure as to what you want your team to focus on.

Fitness: This will see your team focus on training their fitness. This is ideal to focus on in pre-season and the early parts of the domestic season, when your squad is short on match fitness and may not be fit enough to play. If you have a rigorous schedule which may include continental football, fitness training early on in the season and in pre-season would prepare your side for a hectic schedule.

Tactical: When integrating new tactics, placing a focus on the tactical side of the game is important and will see your side quicker gain an understanding of your new tactics. If your players aren’t tactically aware of what you want them to do when the new season starts, they could prove to struggle.

Ball Control: Do you want your side to focus on the technical side of the game? You win games by scoring goals with the ball and if you can’t control the ball, you can’t control the game. If you can get your players to focus on working with the ball, their skills will improve and you will notice more efficiency when your team has possession.

Defending: Is your team struggling to keep goals out? Focusing on defending in training will eventually see your team work better on preventing opposition goals. It may take some time to see results but defensive solidity is important to every team and if you are having problems with conceding goals, you should focus on rectifying this.

Attacking: But what if scoring goals is your problem? Is your team able to create chances to score, or is your attack toothless? Focusing on attacking in training will eventually see improvements in your team’s attacking play in matches. It may take time, but every training focus has it’s positives.

Team Cohesion: If you bring in a number of new players, the squad harmony may not be ideal. Working on team cohesion will see your players grow a stronger bond and work better as a unit. Football is a team sport and it’s important that your players play as a team, rather than individuals. Good team cohesion means better performances.

Just read this end to end, ill admit I'm one of those that just let staff take training and wondered why my wonder kids were not developing. Cant wait for FM16 to come out so i can grab a lower league team and properly work with them to bring them to greatness
