Football Manager Guides - How To Master Training On Football Manager

Youth Training Or First Team Training For Young Talents

Written by Justice

Youth training is perhaps the most overlooked aspect of training, in my opinion. It is fundamental that your young talents receive the best guidance possible in order for them to reach their full potential. It goes without saying that investing in the best possible youth facilities, youth coaches and youth manager will aid their development to no end and I would advise this. Any money you put into nurturing your youth will be returned to you in the future either by raring a player to become a key player for your team or by selling that player for a healthy profit.

As with all other players at your club, you should regularly analyse how your youth players perform in training and adjust their training schedule for the optimum results. This includes individual attribute/role focus, new position training, new preferred move training, and tutoring. I personally follow a three month system where I analyse the training performances of each player after every three months and adjust if needed for the next three months. For me personally, this system works a charm.

When you find your youth players are getting just that little bit too good for the youth squad and youth training, induct them into senior training. Working with senior players is of great benefit, provided your youth players can hold their own. While you do not want your youth players overwhelmed by the increase in training standards, and playing standards should you chose to throw them into senior football, experience is vital and will help strengthen their mental game quickly.

Match experience at senior level is important to young players but only if they are good enough to play. You don't want to throw out a 16 year old who gets completely overwhelmed by the opposition. That will have a negative effect on him. Once your youth players are good enough to hold their own, test them out and allow them to gain experience. This will benefit them.

Just read this end to end, ill admit I'm one of those that just let staff take training and wondered why my wonder kids were not developing. Cant wait for FM16 to come out so i can grab a lower league team and properly work with them to bring them to greatness
