End of an Era
Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has retired from football management, right after guiding his Red Devils team to their 21st ever league title - now 3 more than Liverpool.
The Scot took over as boss in 1986 and has been at the helm for more than 25 years, making him Manchester United's longest serving manager of all time.
Aston Villa boss David Beckham led the tributes for his former manager, whom he played under between 1993 and 2003.
"Fergie was a great, great manager," said Beckham. "He will forever be remembered as a legend at Manchester United. He has been working so hard to bring United to the top, and has worked even harder to ensure they stayed there. He really deserves the title of 'sir'. It's really unfortunate to see him finally retiring completely from the game but I guess this had to come about sooner or later."
Surprisingly, the Villa manager is tipped to be Ferguson's successor at Manchester United, although the one that bookies favor is Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, who has expressed a desire himself to come to Old Trafford.
However, Beckham has revealed that he'd heard such rumors and reassured Aston Villa fans of his loyalty to the club that handed him his first managerial post.
"I said I wanted to finish what I started when Arsenal handed me that job offer back in February," says the London man. "And I wasn't joking or anything of the sort. So, I am here to stay. The United job would be fantastic, but, let's be honest, why would they pick me over Jose Mourinho?"

Retirement
Shay Given and Florent Malouda have both ended their playing careers with Aston Villa at the age of 38 and 33 respectively.
Given joined Aston Villa from Manchester City in 2011, while Malouda joined in 2013. However, both have found themselves sidelined lately and have decided to call time on their plummeting careers.
"Aston Villa have been a fantastic club," said Given, in an arranged interview wit the Telegraph. "But I was a third-choice keeper. I didn't really think Villa needed me and no other club were interested, so retirement was the best option. I enjoyed my playing career and I have no regrets. I'll now be trying my best to do well as a coach."
He has also revealed his dream to be manager of the Ireland national team, or at least, their goalkeeping coach.
"Coaching or managing Ireland would be a dream job," said the 125-capped former international.
Malouda, on the other hand, has decided to go into business instead of furthering a non-playing role in football.

I have to say that Shay Given is a brilliant goalkeeper yet he seems to have gone into football wilderness with not having first team football. He should never have gone to Manchester City.

This post marks the start of Season 2014/15.The Return
Kolo Toure and Javier Hernandez has finished their loan contracts at Aston Villa and have returned to Manchester City and Manchester United respectively.
Toure, however, has been officially released from City with the expiry of his contract. Meanwhile, Hernandez has been transfer-listed by United.
Unfortunately, manager David Beckham has revealed he does not plan to make an offer for the two loanees.
"They had a great season here," he said. "We definitely want Kolo, but his wage demands are unacceptable.
"We also have Darren Bent, Mattia Destro, and Christian Benteke is returning from loan. We have more than enough strikers so I'm afraid we won't be bidding for Chicharito either."
Aside from Benteke, who returns from Tottenham after 9 goals in 17 appearances for the Spurs, players like Adam Campbell have also returned from their loan spells outside.
Marc Albrighton has also been released from the club on the back of his successful six-month loan at Swindon Town.
Four strikers is enough :P. You should give Campbell the sub role and buy a new defender :P.
Homecoming
Just a week after his departure from Aston Villa due to retirement, Shay Given has returned and took up a job as Under-18s Goalkeeping Coach.
Given will help the younger keepers in the club establish themselves.
"It's brilliant of David to give me such an opportunity," said Given. "I'll work as hard as I can."
David Beckham has also spoken well of the former Ireland international.
"He was a quality keeper and he'll be a quality coach, no doubt about that."
